Sarendipity SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a wide-plank honey-toned floor from Neptune’s Allusive collection. The warm, natural wood grain finish reads like real hardwood but is built for the realities of Florida living. Flooring Queen supplies and installs it throughout Southwest Florida with no guesswork on pricing.
Sarendipity was designed for the kind of abuse Southwest Florida homes actually see. The 100% waterproof rigid core won’t buckle or gap when humidity spikes during rainy season, and the pre-attached IXPE backing sits comfortably over concrete slab foundations without a separate underlayment step. That matters in a region where slab-on-grade construction is the norm.
The 22-mil wear layer is thick enough for high-traffic households — scuffs from sandy feet, pet nails, and dragged furniture all fall well within its range. The Shadetech finish includes antimicrobial properties, which is a genuine plus in coastal environments where mold and bacteria thrive in warm, damp conditions.

Flooring Queen installs Sarendipity at $3.99 per square foot, and that price covers the full scope of a standard job: delivery to your home, removal and disposal of your existing floor covering, routine subfloor preparation, the floating installation itself, new baseboards, and transition strips between rooms or floor types.
Some situations do cost more. Significant low spots or high spots in the subfloor that need leveling compound go beyond standard prep and are priced separately. Stair nosing, custom border inlays, and other detailed layout work are also upcharges. Schedule a free in-home measurement and we’ll put the full scope in writing before any work begins.
Engineered hardwood and Sarendipity both chase a natural wood look, and at a glance the gap is narrow. But the differences matter in Florida. Engineered hardwood still has a real wood veneer on top — it expands and contracts with humidity, and it can’t tolerate standing water without risking delamination or cupping. Sarendipity’s rigid SPC core is dimensionally stable regardless of moisture swings, making it the more reliable choice for bathrooms, laundry rooms, or any home near the coast.
Where engineered hardwood wins: the veneer can often be lightly sanded and refinished once or twice, extending the floor’s life well beyond what any vinyl product can offer. If you want a floor you can refinish in 15 years, engineered hardwood is worth the higher price. If waterproofing and stability are the priority, Sarendipity holds the edge.
| Sarendipity | Engineered Hardwood | |
|---|---|---|
| Water resistance | 100% waterproof, rigid core | Moisture-sensitive, can cup or delaminate |
| Scratch resistance / wear layer | 22-mil commercial-grade wear layer | Real wood veneer; scratch-prone without finish upkeep |
| Comfort underfoot | Pre-attached IXPE backing, softer than tile | Warmer, denser feel; quieter underfoot |
| Installed price | $3.99 per sq ft installed | ~$8.99 per sq ft installed |
| Best room | Any grade, wet or dry spaces | Above-grade, dry rooms only |
Sweep or vacuum on a hard-floor setting — avoid beater-bar attachments, which can scuff the wear layer over time. For mopping, use a pH-neutral cleaner such as Bona Hard-Surface Floor Cleaner or a product specifically labeled safe for vinyl; avoid anything acidic or abrasive, and skip steam mops entirely — the sustained heat can soften the locking joints and void the warranty. Wipe up spills promptly even though the core is waterproof, because standing water that sits at the edges or seams can eventually work into the subfloor below. No refinishing or resealing is ever required. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.
Sarendipity’s SPC core is genuinely 100% waterproof — the plank itself will not absorb water, swell, or warp. What’s not covered is water that migrates under the floor through seams or edges over a long period, which can affect the subfloor beneath. Clean up pooled water reasonably promptly and the planks themselves are fine.
The 22-mil wear layer on Sarendipity is one of the thicker options in the SPC category and handles normal pet-nail traffic well without visible scratching under everyday use. Cleanup is simple — the waterproof surface means accidents wipe up without soaking in. Trim nails regularly and add felt pads under furniture legs for the best long-term result.
SPC stands for Stone Plastic Composite — the core is made from limestone powder and PVC, which makes it substantially denser and more dimensionally rigid than traditional LVP. That rigidity means it resists denting under heavy furniture and holds up better over minor subfloor imperfections, while still offering the same waterproof, floating-install convenience.
Ongoing maintenance for Sarendipity is low-cost — a bottle of pH-neutral vinyl cleaner and a microfiber mop cover the routine care. There is no resealing schedule, no refinishing, and no special equipment required. Budget a few dollars per cleaning; there are no recurring professional service costs tied to this floor type.
Sarendipity’s rigid SPC core is dimensionally stable through humidity and temperature cycling, which makes it well-suited to seasonal homes that sit empty during hot, humid Florida summers. Keep the AC set to a reasonable holding temperature rather than turning it off entirely, and the floor will not gap, buckle, or shift during unoccupied stretches.
Sarendipity is appropriate for every room in the home — kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and living areas all included. The floating installation is designed for on-grade and above-grade applications over concrete or wood subfloors. It is not rated for outdoor use or fully submerged environments such as pool surrounds.
We chose every vinyl product in this catalog because it stands up to the realities of Florida living: humidity, sandy substrate, busy households. Flooring Queen installs what we sell, licensed and insured. Free in-home measure: (239) 763-0770.
