Specifications

Sycamore SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a wide-plank natural wood look from Neptune’s Allusive collection that reads warm and grounded without trying too hard. At just over nine inches wide and five feet long, each plank covers serious ground while keeping the grain pattern honest. It’s a practical floor that earns its place.

What Sycamore SPC Rigid-Core Plank is built for

Sycamore is built for the realities of Southwest Florida living: slab-on-grade construction, year-round humidity that swings hard between seasons, and the salt air that sneaks in near Cape Coral and Estero. The 100% waterproof rigid core won’t cup, swell, or buckle the way wood-based products can when moisture migrates up through a concrete slab or blows in through a lanai door.

The 22-mil wear layer makes it viable in rental properties and seasonal homes where traffic is unpredictable and no one is around to catch a spill before it sits. GREENGUARD Gold certification means off-gassing is low — relevant if the house is closed up for months at a time.

Installed pricing in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida

Flooring Queen installs Sycamore at $3.99 per square foot, and that price covers the full job: pulling up your old flooring, standard subfloor prep for a reasonably flat slab, setting the planks using the Angle-Tight floating method, reinstalling baseboards, and cutting in transition strips at doorways. Old material gets loaded up and removed from the property.

Some situations cost more — significant slab leveling, stair nosing, or angled cuts around curved walls fall outside the base scope and will be itemized separately. Call or book online and we’ll come out, measure the space at no charge, and hand you a written quote before any work is scheduled.

How Sycamore SPC Rigid-Core Plank compares

Engineered hardwood gives you a real wood surface — actual veneer you can see and, depending on thickness, sand down once or twice over its life. That refinishing ability is the main reason people still choose it over SPC. It also feels closer to solid wood underfoot, which matters to some buyers.

Sycamore wins on moisture tolerance. Engineered hardwood handles humidity better than solid wood, but it still has a dimensional wood core that can react to the extreme humidity swings common in Southwest Florida, especially over concrete slabs. Sycamore’s rigid stone-composite core is fully dimensionally stable — no cupping risk, no acclimation window, and no worry about a washing-machine leak ending the floor. The installed price gap is also meaningful for larger projects.

Care & maintenance

Sweep or vacuum on hard-floor mode — skip the rotating beater bar, which can scuff the embossed surface over time. Damp-mop with a pH-neutral cleaner such as Bona Hard-Surface Floor Cleaner; avoid anything acidic, ammonia-based, or wax-based, as those can dull or leave residue on the Shadetech finish. Never use a steam mop — sustained heat and moisture forced into the locking joints can compromise the floating installation and, over time, the pre-attached IXPE backing. There’s no resealing or refinishing cycle to budget for; the wear layer is the maintenance plan. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.

Frequently asked questions

Will standing water actually damage this floor, or is ‘waterproof’ just a marketing word here?

Sycamore’s SPC core is genuinely 100% waterproof — the plank itself won’t swell, warp, or delaminate from water exposure. That said, standing water that sits long enough to migrate under the floor and into a subfloor or wall base is a separate issue the flooring can’t solve on its own. Wipe up spills promptly as a habit.

My dogs are rough on floors — will the wear layer hold up to claws and accidents?

The 22-mil wear layer on Sycamore is a commercial-grade thickness that handles pet claws better than thinner residential SPC options. Dried accidents won’t stain or damage the waterproof core. For best results, keep nails trimmed and put a mat under food and water bowls where moisture tends to pool daily.

Does Flooring Queen install this out in Cape Coral and Bonita Springs, or just closer to Fort Myers?

Flooring Queen installs Sycamore throughout the region, including Cape Coral, Bonita Springs, and the broader Lee and Collier County area. If you’re unsure whether your address falls in our service zone, just call or use the online form — we’ll confirm your area and get a measure scheduled.

Are there rooms in the house where this floor isn’t a good fit?

Sycamore works on any grade level — slab, above grade, or even a raised wood subfloor — so there are very few rooms it can’t handle. It’s a floating install, which means it’s not glued down; that method performs well in bedrooms, living areas, kitchens, and bathrooms. Full outdoor or unenclosed patio use is not recommended.

Does this plank come with underlayment already attached, or do I need to buy a separate pad?

Sycamore has a pre-attached IXPE backing, so no separate underlayment purchase is needed. IXPE is a closed-cell foam that adds a modest cushion underfoot and helps with minor subfloor imperfections. It also improves sound absorption slightly compared to bare SPC — noticeable in upstairs installations or open-plan rooms.

What does it actually cost to maintain this floor over the years — any products or services I should budget for?

Ongoing costs are low. You need a pH-neutral hard-surface cleaner (Bona Hard-Surface runs about $10-15 per bottle and lasts months), a microfiber mop, and nothing else on a recurring basis. Unlike hardwood, there’s no refinishing schedule. Unlike tile, there’s no grout to reseal. The main budget item is occasional replacement of damaged planks, which the warranty may cover.
