Urban Design Ll – Del Mar SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a soft taupe plank floor built for the way Southwest Florida homes actually live. This is Happy Feet’s Urban Design LL collection, a loose-lay or glue-down SPC format with a 20 mil ceramic bead finish. Del Mar keeps the palette calm and grounded, a warm neutral that works across a wide range of interiors.
Del Mar is a practical choice for the conditions most Fort Myers and Cape Coral homeowners deal with daily. The 100% virgin vinyl construction with a fiberglass layer resists moisture at every level — not just on the surface — which matters on concrete slab foundations where humidity wicks up from below. Salt air and sandy foot traffic from the beach or lanai won’t degrade this floor the way they can softer materials.
The loose-lay or glue-down installation method also makes it a good fit for seasonal and rental properties, where stability under real use matters more than aesthetics. The 20 mil ceramic bead wear layer is thick enough to handle rolling luggage, furniture, and the kind of daily traffic a vacation rental sees year-round.

Flooring Queen’s $3.99 per square foot installed price covers the complete job: delivery to your home, removal of the old flooring, standard surface prep, full installation, baseboard reattachment, transition strips between rooms, and cleanup when the crew leaves. There’s nothing hidden in that number for a standard project.
Extra costs do come up in some situations — significant floor leveling beyond minor skim-coating, stair nosing, or unusually complex room layouts can add to the final number. The best way to lock in your budget is to schedule Flooring Queen’s free in-home measure. You’ll get a room-by-room written quote before any work starts.
Porcelain tile is a common cross-shop for Southwest Florida buyers who want waterproof performance and durability — and it delivers on both. But there are real trade-offs. Porcelain is hard underfoot, loud, and cold, which isn’t ideal in a home where you’re barefoot most of the year. It also requires grout, which needs periodic sealing and can discolor in humid conditions.
Del Mar SPC gives you the same waterproof core without grout lines to maintain. It’s quieter and softer underfoot. The installed price is meaningfully lower. Porcelain wins on longevity in high-heat or outdoor-adjacent applications, and it won’t dent under heavy point loads the way vinyl can. For indoor living areas, Del Mar is the more comfortable and budget-friendly call.

Sweep or dust-mop Del Mar regularly to keep grit from grinding into the ceramic bead finish — fine debris from sandy Southwest Florida soil is the most common cause of surface dulling on vinyl planks. Damp-mop with a pH-neutral cleaner like Bona Hard-Surface Floor Cleaner or a diluted dish soap solution; avoid anything acidic or abrasive. Do not use a steam mop on this floor — sustained heat and pressure can affect the adhesive bond on glue-down installations and may warp the planks over time. Avoid rubber-backed mats, which can discolor vinyl surfaces with prolonged contact. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.
Del Mar is fully waterproof — the 100% virgin vinyl and fiberglass construction means water won’t penetrate the core even if a puddle sits for hours. The main caution is the edges and seams on a glue-down install; water that gets below the planks through gaps can affect adhesion over time, so sealing perimeter edges is good practice.
The 20 mil wear layer gives Del Mar strong scratch resistance for everyday pet traffic, including medium and large dogs. Accidents clean up easily since the vinyl core doesn’t absorb liquid. Deep gouges from very large breeds are still possible if claws are kept long, so regular nail trims help preserve the surface.
Del Mar does not include an attached underlayment pad. For a glue-down installation that’s standard — the adhesive bonds directly to the subfloor. If you want additional sound absorption or cushion underfoot, discuss a separate thin pad with your installer before the job; not all pads are compatible with glue-down methods.
A single room typically takes one day or less; a full home of 1,200–1,800 square feet usually runs two to three days depending on layout complexity and subfloor condition. Glue-down installations also require cure time before the floor sees heavy furniture or foot traffic, which your installer will factor into the project schedule.
SPC stands for stone plastic composite, which means the core contains a rigid mineral layer rather than the flexible foam found in standard LVP. Del Mar is SPC, so it resists denting and stays dimensionally stable under Southwest Florida temperature swings. Standard LVP is softer underfoot but can expand and contract more, which matters on concrete slabs.
Del Mar works well in living rooms, kitchens, hallways, and bedrooms — essentially any above- or on-grade interior space. Because it’s a glue-down or loose-lay format without a locking system, it’s less suited to spaces with heavy moisture intrusion from below, like below-grade basements. Outdoor or semi-outdoor areas like screened lanais aren’t appropriate applications either.
