Specifications

Urban Design Ll – Paris SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99/sq ft installed in Fort Myers — a soft taupe plank from Happy Feet’s Urban Design LL™ collection built for the way Florida homes actually live. The 7″ x 48″ format reads like a wide-plank wood floor without any of wood’s vulnerability to moisture. It’s a clean, versatile neutral that works across open-plan spaces without pulling toward beige or gray.

What Urban Design Ll – Paris SPC Rigid-Core Plank is built for

Paris is engineered for the full range of Southwest Florida conditions: concrete slab construction, coastal humidity, and the salt air that accelerates wear on less resilient floors. The 100% virgin vinyl core with a fiberglass layer resists the dimensional shifting that warps lesser planks when humidity swings between a sealed-up summer home and a fully air-conditioned snowbird season.

The 20 mil ceramic bead finish provides meaningful scratch and scuff resistance in high-traffic areas — entryways, kitchens, living rooms — where sandy feet and tracked-in debris are part of daily life. Loose-lay or glue-down installation gives your installer flexibility depending on your specific slab condition.

Flooring Queen installs Urban Design Ll – Paris at $3.99 per square foot, and that number covers the full scope of a standard job: delivery to your home, removal of existing flooring, surface prep for a reasonably level slab, installation of the planks, new baseboards, and transition strips at doorways. Old material goes with the crew — nothing is left for you to deal with.

Upcharges apply when the scope expands: significant slab leveling, stair nosing, or decorative borders each add to the base cost. A free in-home measure produces a written quote before any work is scheduled, so you know the total before committing.

How Urban Design Ll – Paris SPC Rigid-Core Plank compares

Shoppers often compare rigid-core vinyl like Paris to waterproof laminate because both offer a plank format and a wood-look surface at accessible price points. The meaningful difference is in the core: laminate uses a wood-fiber HDF base that, even when treated, can swell if water gets into seams or under planks from a concrete slab. The 100% virgin vinyl construction in Paris isn’t wood-derived at all, so it doesn’t respond to moisture the way laminate does — an important distinction in Florida’s high-humidity environment.

Laminate does have an edge in surface hardness and can feel slightly more rigid underfoot, which some buyers prefer. But for slab installs near the coast or in seasonal homes that see humidity swings, the all-vinyl build is a more stable long-term choice.

Care & maintenance

Sweep or dry-mop daily to clear the fine grit and sand that acts like sandpaper on any floor finish over time. Damp mopping with a pH-neutral cleaner — brands like Bona Hard-Surface Floor Cleaner work well — is safe for routine cleaning; avoid anything acidic or solvent-based. Never use a steam mop on this floor: the heat and pressure can weaken the adhesive bond on glue-down installations and soften the wear layer over time. Avoid rubber-backed mats on the surface for extended periods, as some rubber compounds can leave staining that’s difficult to remove. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.

Frequently asked questions

Will standing water actually damage this floor, or is ‘waterproof’ just marketing language?

Paris is genuinely waterproof at the plank level — the 100% virgin vinyl construction doesn’t absorb water or swell. Standing water on the surface won’t damage the plank itself. Where you do need care is at the perimeter: water that migrates under the floor from wall gaps or a leaking appliance can affect the adhesive in a glue-down installation.

We have two large dogs — will this hold up to claws and the occasional accident?

The 20 mil wear layer gives Paris solid resistance to the everyday scratching and dragging that medium-to-large dogs produce. Pet accidents clean up without staining or odor absorption since the vinyl surface doesn’t wick liquid. For very active large breeds, area rugs in the highest-traffic paths will extend the finish life noticeably.

Are there any rooms in the house where this plank isn’t a good fit?

Paris works on any grade — slab, above-grade, or even below-grade rooms — and is rated for wet areas, so kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms are all fair game. The one caveat is outdoors or semi-exposed spaces: this is an interior floor and shouldn’t be used on screened lanais with direct sun and rain exposure.

Does Flooring Queen install this out in Cape Coral and further south toward Naples?

Yes — Flooring Queen serves the broader Southwest Florida region, including Cape Coral, Bonita Springs, and the Naples corridor. Whether you’re in a Cape Coral canal home or a newer build in Bonita Springs, a crew can be scheduled for measurement and installation without a travel surcharge for most addresses in the service area.

Our place sits empty from May through October — is that hard on this type of floor?

Rigid-core vinyl handles seasonal vacancy better than wood-based floors because it doesn’t expand and contract significantly with humidity shifts. Keeping the AC set to around 78–80°F while the home is unoccupied — rather than shutting it off entirely — prevents the extreme humidity swings that stress any interior finish. Paris’s fiberglass-reinforced core adds another layer of dimensional stability during those cycles.

Does putting in new vinyl plank actually move the needle when we sell, or do buyers see it as a lesser product?

Fresh, clean flooring consistently helps resale in Southwest Florida, and wide-plank vinyl in a neutral taupe reads as updated rather than budget-grade to most buyers in this market. Buyers here — especially those relocating from northern states — actively look for waterproof floors given the humidity. It won’t carry the same perceived value as hardwood, but it won’t hurt you either, and worn original flooring definitely will.
