Urban Design Ll – Dubai SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a warm taupe rigid-core floor built for the realities of Southwest Florida living. It comes from Happy Feet’s Urban Design LL collection, a loose-lay or glue-down SPC line engineered for stability in high-humidity environments. The taupe tone reads as quietly neutral, pairing with both coastal whites and earthy inland palettes without demanding attention.
Dubai’s 4.5mm SPC rigid-core construction doesn’t flex, swell, or telegraph uneven concrete the way thinner vinyl products do — which matters on the slab foundations that dominate Fort Myers and Cape Coral homes. The fiberglass layer adds dimensional stability in rooms where humidity climbs and drops with the seasons. The 20 mil wear layer puts this plank firmly in the commercial-grade tier, making it a reasonable choice for high-traffic entries, kitchens, and living rooms that see real use.
The loose-lay or glue-down install method gives contractors flexibility. Glue-down is particularly well suited to Florida slabs where moisture vapor can undermine floating floors over time. Either way, the square edge profile gives the finished floor a clean, low-profile look without the micro-bevels that collect sand and salt tracked in from the coast.

Flooring Queen installs Urban Design LL – Dubai at $3.99 per square foot, which covers the full scope of a standard project: pulling up your old floor, disposing of the waste offsite, surface prep for a reasonably flat slab, setting the new planks, and fitting new baseboards and transition strips at doorways. You won’t get a surprise invoice for those line items at the end.
Extra charges apply when the subfloor needs significant leveling beyond routine prep, or when the layout involves stairs, custom inlays, or intricate border work. Request a free in-home measurement and we’ll produce a written quote scoped to your specific rooms — square footage, layout complexity, and any known subfloor conditions — before any commitment is made.
Homeowners in Southwest Florida often compare SPC plank to porcelain tile because both are genuinely waterproof and handle Florida’s humidity without issue. Porcelain wins on long-term hardness — it won’t scratch or dent under heavy furniture or dropped tools. It also holds its value perception with buyers who prize a tile look.
Where Dubai pulls ahead: it’s warmer and quieter underfoot, requires no grout maintenance, and installs faster at roughly half the cost. Porcelain at $8.99 per square foot installed also means more disruption to the home and longer cure times. For busy households or rental properties where downtime is money, the SPC case is straightforward.
| Urban Design LL – Dubai | Porcelain Tile | |
|---|---|---|
| Water resistance | Waterproof SPC core | Waterproof; grout can absorb moisture |
| Scratch resistance / wear layer | 20 mil ceramic bead finish | Extremely hard; no wear layer needed |
| Comfort underfoot | Slightly cushioned, quieter | Hard, cold, noisy without rugs |
| Installed price | $3.99 per sq ft | $8.99 per sq ft |
| Best room | Any room on slab, rental units | Wet areas, high-end kitchens |
Sweep or dust-mop Dubai regularly — salt and quartz grit tracked in from Florida beaches are abrasive and will dull the ceramic bead finish faster than anything else. For mopping, use a pH-neutral cleaner like Bona Stone, Tile & Laminate or a product specifically labeled safe for SPC vinyl; avoid anything acidic, oil-based, or concentrated. Never use a steam mop — sustained heat can soften the adhesive bond on glue-down installations and may cause the planks to lift at the edges over time. A damp microfiber mop is all the wet cleaning this floor needs. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.
Dubai’s SPC core is 100% waterproof — standing water won’t swell or warp the plank itself. The risk area is the seam between planks: prolonged pooling can eventually wick beneath the floor if gaps exist. Wipe up large spills promptly, and you won’t have an issue.
A 20 mil wear layer is one of the thicker options available in residential SPC, and it holds up well against pet nails under normal activity. Cleanup is straightforward — urine won’t penetrate the core, and the ceramic bead finish resists surface scratching better than thinner 6- or 8-mil products.
Dubai does not include an attached underlayment pad — it’s a bare SPC plank designed for loose-lay or glue-down installation directly to the subfloor. For glue-down applications this is standard. If sound dampening is a priority, discuss an appropriate separate underlayment with your installer before the project begins.
A 7-inch-wide plank reads as a modern, substantial board — wider than traditional 3- or 4-inch strips and closer in scale to current design trends. Longer 48-inch planks also reduce the number of end joints visible in a room, which makes the floor feel more open and less busy, especially in open-plan living areas.
Dubai installs well in virtually any room on a ground-level slab — kitchens, bathrooms, living areas, and bedrooms included. There’s no click-lock system, so this isn’t a floating-floor DIY candidate for above-grade applications without contractor guidance. Outdoors and in unenclosed lanais it’s not appropriate, but otherwise the install method covers most interior spaces.
SPC rigid-core construction is more dimensionally stable than floating LVP or laminate in unoccupied homes because it doesn’t rely on a click-lock system that can rack under thermal stress. Glue-down installation, in particular, keeps planks anchored during humidity and temperature cycling common in Southwest Florida summers — making Dubai a sensible choice for seasonal homes.
