Specifications

Tivoli SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a warm taupe floor from Maxxi Floors’ Extreme Collection built to outlast Florida’s toughest conditions. At 7 mm thick with a 9-by-72-inch plank format, it reads like wide-board hardwood without any of hardwood’s moisture vulnerability. This is a floor that earns its place in Southwest Florida homes.

What Tivoli SPC Rigid-Core Plank is built for

Tivoli is sized for the big, open floor plans common in Southwest Florida — those long 72-inch planks reduce seams across great rooms, master suites, and open-concept kitchens. The rigid stone-polymer composite core won’t flex or buckle over concrete slab foundations, which make up the majority of homes in this region. High ambient humidity and salt air near the coast don’t faze it.

For snowbird owners who close up a home for months at a time, Tivoli’s dimensional stability under temperature cycling is a genuine advantage. It also holds up to sandy foot traffic and the kind of everyday wear that rental and vacation properties demand. The 22 mil wear layer is one of the thicker options in this price range.

Installed pricing in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida

Flooring Queen installs Tivoli at $3.99 per square foot, and that price covers the full scope of a standard job: delivery to your home, removal of the existing floor covering, subfloor inspection and routine prep work, installation of the planks, new baseboards, and any transition strips needed between rooms. Old flooring and debris get loaded out — nothing left for you to deal with.

Upcharges apply when conditions go beyond standard: significant low spots that require self-leveling compound, stair nosing, diagonal or herringbone patterns, or decorative borders. Every project starts with a no-cost in-home measurement visit so you get a written quote with a firm number before any work begins.

How Tivoli SPC Rigid-Core Plank compares

Shoppers drawn to Tivoli’s wide taupe planks and wood-look aesthetic often consider engineered hardwood at the same time. Here’s where they differ in a Florida context: Tivoli is fully waterproof at the core — a plank submerged in water won’t swell. Engineered hardwood has a real wood veneer that can still cup or show damage from standing water, making it a riskier choice in bathrooms, laundry rooms, or any slab-on-grade space prone to moisture migration.

Engineered hardwood wins on one thing: it’s real wood, and some buyers want that. Higher-end versions can be lightly refinished once or twice if the surface gets deeply scratched. Tivoli cannot be refinished. But at $3.99 installed versus $8.99 for engineered hardwood, Tivoli covers a lot more floor for the same budget — and holds up better in the conditions most Southwest Florida homes actually see.

Care & maintenance

Sweep or vacuum Tivoli regularly to keep abrasive grit from working into the wear layer — a soft-bristle attachment works better than a beater bar. For cleaning, use a pH-neutral vinyl floor cleaner such as Bona Stone, Tile & Laminate or a diluted Rejuvenate Vinyl Floor Cleaner; avoid anything acidic, oil-based, or wax-based. Never use a steam mop on SPC flooring — the sustained heat and moisture can compromise the locking joints and void most manufacturer coverage. Dry mopping after wet cleaning is a good habit in humid climates. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.

Frequently asked questions

Will standing water actually damage this floor, or is it just surface water-resistant?

Tivoli has a waterproof stone-polymer composite core, meaning the plank itself won’t swell or warp from water exposure — including standing water. That said, water that sits long enough to seep under the floor and reach the subfloor can still cause subfloor damage, so prompt cleanup of large spills or leaks is still smart practice.

My dogs are rough on floors — will Tivoli hold up to claws and accidents?

Tivoli’s 22 mil wear layer is well above average for this price point and handles everyday pet claw traffic without visible scratching under normal conditions. Urine and water-based messes wipe up without staining or swelling the core. Very large, heavy dogs with sharp nails can still leave marks on any vinyl floor, but this wear layer gives strong resistance.

What’s the actual difference between SPC and regular LVP — and which one is this?

Tivoli is SPC — stone-polymer composite — which means its core is made from limestone powder and PVC, not the softer foam-filled core used in traditional LVP. SPC is denser and dimensionally more stable, making it less prone to denting under heavy furniture and more resistant to temperature-related expansion. The trade-off is that it’s slightly firmer underfoot than softer LVP.

We’re only in the house part of the year — how does Tivoli handle sitting empty in Florida heat?

Tivoli handles seasonal vacancy well. The rigid SPC core is engineered for dimensional stability across a wider temperature and humidity range than wood-based floors, so it won’t gap or buckle when the AC is set high while you’re away. Standard practice is to keep climate control running at a moderate setpoint — not off entirely — to protect all interior finishes, not just the floor.

How long will a Tivoli installation actually take — a single room versus a whole house?

A single large room typically installs in one day. A full home — say 1,500 to 2,000 square feet — usually runs two to three days depending on layout complexity, number of transitions, and subfloor conditions found once the old floor comes up. Flooring Queen will walk you through a realistic project schedule at the time of your measure appointment.

Does the old tile or vinyl have to come out first, or can Tivoli go right over it?

In many cases Tivoli can float directly over existing hard-surface floors — tile and single-layer vinyl are common candidates — as long as the surface is flat, firmly bonded, and within acceptable height tolerances at transitions. During your in-home measurement, the installer will check the existing floor condition and flag anything that needs to come up or be leveled before install.
