Specifications

European Walnut SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a dark, natural-toned floor from CPF Floors’ Quick48+ collection that reads like real wood without any of the moisture baggage. The deep walnut color works across open-plan living spaces, primary bedrooms, and anywhere a grounded, earthy look fits the design. Flooring Queen carries and installs it throughout Southwest Florida.

What European Walnut SPC Rigid-Core Plank is built for

European Walnut is a practical choice for homes built on concrete slabs — common throughout Lee and Collier counties. Its 5.5mm rigid core resists the flex and expansion that trips up thinner vinyl in high-humidity environments, and the waterproof construction handles the moisture that seeps up through slab foundations year-round in this climate.

The 20 mil wear layer and heavy residential to general commercial traffic rating make it a sound pick for rentals, seasonal homes that sit empty through summer, and households with dogs or kids tracking in sand from the beach. Salt air near the coast won’t affect it the way it would a wood-based product.

Installed pricing in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida

The $3.99 per square foot installed price covers the full scope of a standard job: delivery to your home, removal of the existing floor covering, surface-level subfloor prep, installation of the planks, new baseboards, transition strips between rooms or thresholds, and cleanup and removal of all debris when the crew leaves.

Some situations add cost — significant subfloor leveling, stair nosing, or unusually complex room layouts will be quoted separately. Flooring Queen offers a free in-home measurement visit where you’ll get a written quote specific to your space before any commitment is made.

How European Walnut SPC Rigid-Core Plank compares

Engineered hardwood gives you a real wood surface — actual grain texture, natural variation, and the option to refinish the top layer once or twice over its life. If authentic wood feel is the priority, it has an edge there. But in Southwest Florida, the trade-offs are real: engineered hardwood is moisture-tolerant, not waterproof, and even the better products can swell or cup when humidity swings hard or a slab stays damp.

European Walnut SPC wins on water resistance, installed cost, and low-maintenance durability. It won’t be refinished, and underfoot it feels slightly firmer than a wood product. For rental properties, coastal homes, or anyone who wants a worry-free floor in a wet-season climate, the SPC is the more practical call.

Care & maintenance

Sweep or vacuum regularly to keep sand and grit off the surface — fine particles are the main source of fine scratching on any vinyl floor. Use a pH-neutral cleaner such as Bona Hard-Surface Floor Cleaner or a diluted dish-soap solution with a damp mop; avoid anything acidic or abrasive. Keep steam mops off this floor entirely — the heat and pressure can compromise the click joints and attached pad over time. Do not use a vacuum with a spinning beater bar, which can scuff the wear layer. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.

Frequently asked questions

Will standing water actually damage this floor, or is it just water-resistant?

European Walnut SPC is fully waterproof through its rigid core — standing water on the surface won’t damage the plank itself. That said, water that works its way under the floor through gaps at the perimeter or around transitions can still sit on the subfloor below, so keeping seams and edges sealed is important.

My dogs are rough on floors — how well does this hold up to claws and accidents?

The 20 mil wear layer puts this floor at the high end of residential durability and into general commercial territory, which means pet claws won’t get through it under normal use. Cleanup is straightforward — the waterproof core means urine or spilled water won’t soak in if you wipe it up. It’s one of the more pet-practical floors we carry.

What makes SPC different from regular luxury vinyl — is one actually tougher than the other?

SPC stands for stone-plastic composite, meaning the core contains limestone powder that makes the plank dimensionally rigid. Standard LVP uses a softer, more flexible vinyl core. The rigid core in this European Walnut plank is less prone to denting under heavy furniture and holds its shape better in temperature swings — both meaningful advantages in Florida homes.

What parts of Southwest Florida does Flooring Queen install this in?

Flooring Queen installs European Walnut throughout the region, including Cape Coral, Bonita Springs, Estero, Naples, Lehigh Acres, and the broader Fort Myers area. If you’re unsure whether your address falls within the service zone, call the store — most of Lee and Collier County is covered.

Does this floor come with underlayment already attached, or do I need to buy a separate pad?

A 1.5mm HD EVA pad is factory-attached to the back of each plank, so no separate underlayment purchase is needed. That pad softens the feel underfoot compared to bare SPC and reduces the hollow sound that thin planks can produce over concrete — a practical feature on Florida slab floors.

Can this go down over my existing tile without ripping it out first?

In many cases, yes — the angle-angle click system used by European Walnut is designed for floating installation, which means it can go over existing hard surfaces like ceramic tile or vinyl as long as the substrate is flat and stable. Flooring Queen will check the height differential at doorways and transitions during your measure to confirm it’s a viable option for your specific floor.
