Specifications

Dark Greige SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a warm taupe floor from CPF Floors’ Quick48+ collection that reads as earthy and grounded without skewing yellow or orange. The 7-inch-wide planks carry a dark natural tone that works equally well in open-plan living areas and tighter hallways.

What Dark Greige SPC Rigid-Core Plank is built for

This plank is built for the realities of Southwest Florida homes. The rigid stone-plastic composite core won’t swell or buckle when humidity climbs, making it a solid choice for slab-on-grade construction where moisture migration from below is common. Salt air, sandy foot traffic, and the thermal cycling that comes with coastal living are well within its operating range.

The 20 mil wear layer and Heavy Residential / General Commercial traffic rating (Class 23–33) mean it holds up under everyday abuse — pets, kids, regular foot traffic, and the kind of gritty floors that come with beach proximity. Rental properties and snowbird homes that sit unoccupied for months at a time are also good candidates, given the rigid core’s dimensional stability.

Installed pricing in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida

Flooring Queen installs Dark Greige SPC at $3.99 per square foot. That number covers the full scope of a standard job: product delivery, removal of your existing floor covering, a routine subfloor sweep and prep pass, the installation itself, baseboards, and transition strips. Old flooring gets taken off-site — nothing left in your driveway.

Some situations run extra. If your slab has significant dips or high spots requiring self-leveling compound, that’s billed separately. Stair nosing, custom inlay borders, and intricate herringbone or diagonal layouts also carry a surcharge. Call or stop in and we’ll schedule a free in-home measurement — you’ll walk away with a firm written price before any work begins.

How Dark Greige SPC Rigid-Core Plank compares

Waterproof laminate and SPC look similar on a showroom floor, and both float without glue. The difference shows up in real-world conditions. SPC uses a stone-plastic composite core that is genuinely dimensionally stable — it doesn’t expand and contract the way laminate’s HDF core does under Southwest Florida humidity swings. Laminate marketed as ‘waterproof’ typically means the surface repels spills, but prolonged standing water at seams or edges can still cause the core to swell over time.

Where laminate can have an edge is underfoot feel — some homeowners find the thicker foam underlayments used with laminate softer to stand on. The Quick48+ comes with an attached 1.5mm HD EVA pad, which helps, but a high-end laminate setup may still feel slightly more cushioned. For Fort Myers bathrooms, laundry rooms, or any slab-level install, SPC is the safer bet.

Care & maintenance

Sweep or dust-mop regularly — fine grit tracked in from outside is the most consistent source of surface scratches on any vinyl plank. For damp cleaning, use a pH-neutral hard-surface cleaner such as Bona Hard-Surface Floor Cleaner or a diluted Rejuvenate formula; avoid anything acidic or ammonia-based, which can dull the wear layer over time. Skip the steam mop entirely — sustained heat and pressurized moisture can soften the adhesive bond in the attached pad and cause planks to cup at the edges. Wipe up standing puddles promptly, even though the core itself is waterproof. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.

Frequently asked questions

Will standing water actually damage this floor, or is it truly waterproof all the way through?

Dark Greige SPC Rigid-Core Plank is waterproof through the full thickness of the plank — the stone-plastic composite core does not absorb moisture. Surface spills and standing water won’t damage the plank itself. That said, water that sits long enough to seep under the floor at wall transitions can affect the subfloor beneath, so prompt cleanup and proper perimeter sealing still matter.

How well does this hold up with dogs or cats in the house?

The 20 mil wear layer gives this floor meaningful scratch resistance — enough to handle typical dog nails and cat claws without showing tracks the way thinner vinyl or soft-surface floors would. Accidents clean up easily since the core won’t absorb liquids. For large, active dogs, area rugs at entry points will help extend the floor’s appearance over the long haul.

Are there any rooms where this plank shouldn’t go?

Dark Greige SPC works on any grade level — slab, above-grade, or below-grade — so there are very few rooms where it doesn’t belong. It’s a strong fit for bathrooms, kitchens, and living areas. The one place to pause: exterior or semi-exterior spaces with direct UV exposure, where prolonged sunlight can fade any vinyl product over time.

What’s a realistic timeline for getting a whole house done versus just one room?

A single room typically goes down in a day or less for a straightforward layout. A whole-home project — say, 1,000 to 1,500 square feet — usually runs two to three days depending on room count, furniture moving, and any subfloor work needed before the planks go down. The angle-angle installation method on this plank is efficient, which helps keep timelines tight.

Does installing luxury vinyl plank actually help when you go to sell a Fort Myers home?

SPC vinyl plank in a neutral, on-trend color like Dark Greige reads well to buyers and appraisers as an updated, low-maintenance floor — which matters in the Southwest Florida market where moisture and durability are real concerns. It won’t add value the way true hardwood might in colder markets, but it removes a common buyer objection and tends to photograph well.

Our house sits empty from May through October — is this floor going to be okay through that?

SPC rigid-core vinyl is one of the better choices for seasonal homes precisely because it tolerates the humidity and temperature swings that come with being closed up through a Southwest Florida summer. Unlike wood-based products, the stone-plastic composite core doesn’t meaningfully expand or contract with humidity cycling, so you’re unlikely to come back in the fall to buckling or gapping.
