Vanilla Tan SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a warm beige floor from Maxxi Floors’ Prime Collection built to look relaxed and hold up hard. The soft, neutral tone reads like natural stone without the weight or cold underfoot. Flooring Queen carries it ready to measure, quote, and install throughout Southwest Florida.
A 5 mm rigid core and 20 mil wear layer make Vanilla Tan a practical choice for the rooms that take the most traffic — kitchens, living areas, laundry rooms, and busy hallways. The rigid stone-polymer construction won’t flex or telegraph subfloor imperfections the way thinner vinyl can.
Southwest Florida conditions favor this format. The core resists the humidity swings that cause wood-based floors to cup or gap. Salt air, sandy foot traffic from the beach, and the long vacancy stretches common in snowbird homes won’t degrade it. Rental investors appreciate the wear-layer durability; seasonal homeowners appreciate that it won’t buckle when the AC is off for months.

Flooring Queen installs Vanilla Tan at $3.99 per square foot, all-in for standard projects. That price covers pulling up your old flooring, disposing of it, surface preparation for a flat substrate, the plank installation itself, baseboard reinstallation, and transition strips between rooms or doorways. A written quote is provided after a free in-home measurement so there are no surprises on the final invoice.
Certain conditions fall outside that base rate. Significant floor leveling — common in older slabs that have settled unevenly — is priced separately. Stair nosing, decorative borders, and diagonal or herringbone layouts also carry an upcharge. We’ll flag any of those before work begins.
Shoppers considering Vanilla Tan sometimes look at porcelain tile in a similar neutral tone. Porcelain is harder and more scratch-proof, and it holds up to steam mops and harsh cleaners that SPC can’t tolerate. It also adds real resale appeal in high-end kitchens and baths.
That said, porcelain costs more than twice as much installed and takes considerably longer to lay. It’s cold and hard underfoot — a real factor in a home where you’re on your feet all day. Grout lines collect grime and need periodic sealing. SPC like Vanilla Tan installs faster, feels softer underfoot, stays quieter, and doesn’t require grout maintenance. For whole-home installs or rental properties, the cost and comfort difference adds up fast.
| Vanilla Tan | Porcelain Tile | |
|---|---|---|
| Water resistance | 100% waterproof core | Waterproof tile; grout can absorb moisture |
| Scratch resistance / wear layer | 20 mil wear layer | Extremely hard surface; no wear layer |
| Comfort underfoot | Warmer, slightly cushioned feel | Hard and cold; no give |
| Installed price | $3.99 / sq ft installed | $8.99 / sq ft installed |
| Best room | Whole-home, rentals, high-traffic areas | Wet baths, upscale kitchens |
Sweep or vacuum Vanilla Tan regularly — a soft-bristle floor head works well, and avoiding a rotating beater bar will keep the wear surface looking its best longer. For washing, use a damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner; Bona Hard-Surface Floor Cleaner and Rejuvenate are both compatible with SPC vinyl. Do not use a steam mop — sustained heat can weaken the adhesive bond between layers over time. Avoid ammonia-based or solvent cleaners, which can cloud the wear layer. For stubborn scuffs, a small amount of isopropyl alcohol on a cloth usually does the job without damage. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.
Vanilla Tan has a 100% waterproof stone-polymer core, so standing water on the surface won’t damage the plank itself. The important caveat is the perimeter: water that seeps under the floor through gaps at walls or transitions can sit on the subfloor below. Keep seams and edges properly sealed and address spills at the source when possible.
The 20 mil wear layer on Vanilla Tan is one of the thicker residential-grade options available, and it handles normal dog nail traffic well without visible scratching under everyday use. Accidents wipe up cleanly since the surface is non-porous. For very large or active dogs, placing mats at high-traffic entry points extends the finish life.
SPC (stone-polymer composite) has a denser, rigid core compared to traditional LVP, which uses a softer flexible vinyl construction. That rigidity means SPC resists denting, handles minor subfloor unevenness better, and stays dimensionally stable under temperature swings. For Southwest Florida homes with concrete slabs and variable AC use, the rigid core is a meaningful advantage over flexible LVP.
The product specifications for Vanilla Tan do not list an attached underlayment pad. That means a separate underlayment may be needed depending on your subfloor and desired sound absorption. Ask your Flooring Queen installer during the in-home measurement — they can recommend the right pad thickness for your specific slab and room conditions.
A single room typically installs in a few hours once the old floor is removed. A full home of 1,000 to 1,500 square feet generally runs one to two days for the flooring crew. SPC click-lock installation is straightforward and doesn’t require adhesive curing time, so you’re usually back on the floor the same day or the next morning.
Vanilla Tan is well-suited to concrete slab installations, which are the norm across Southwest Florida. The stone-polymer core doesn’t absorb moisture from below the way wood-based products can. For slabs with known moisture intrusion issues, a vapor barrier underlayment is a smart addition — your installer can assess whether that step is needed during the pre-install measurement.
We chose every vinyl product in this catalog because it stands up to the realities of Florida living: humidity, sandy substrate, busy households. Flooring Queen installs what we sell, licensed and insured. Free in-home measure: (239) 763-0770.
