Specifications

Dutch Grey SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a cool-toned gray floor from Maxxi Floors’ Prime Collection built for homes that see real use. The name says it plainly: a clean Dutch Grey colorway that reads as a true, versatile gray. Flooring Queen installs it across Southwest Florida as a practical, good-looking option for slab-built homes.

What Dutch Grey SPC Rigid-Core Plank is built for

A 5 mm rigid-core construction doesn’t flex the way traditional vinyl does, which matters on the concrete slab foundations common throughout Fort Myers and Cape Coral. It holds flat without the bounce you’d notice underfoot on a thinner product, and the rigid core doesn’t swell when humidity climbs through a Southwest Florida summer.

The 20 mil wear layer is a serious defense against sandy feet tracked in from nearby beaches, pet traffic, and the scuffing that rental properties take between tenants. For snowbird owners who lock up for the summer and return in the fall, this format handles humidity cycling better than most wood-based floors.

Installed pricing in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida

Flooring Queen installs Dutch Grey at $3.99 per square foot, and that figure covers quite a bit: delivery to your home, removal and disposal of your old flooring, standard subfloor preparation, the installation itself, new baseboards, and transition strips between rooms or adjacent surfaces.

Certain situations carry an upcharge — significant floor leveling when a slab has settled, stair nosing, or intricate layout patterns that add labor time. To find out exactly what your project costs, call us for a free in-home measure. You’ll receive a written quote scoped to your actual space before any work is scheduled.

How Dutch Grey SPC Rigid-Core Plank compares

Porcelain tile is the traditional go-to in Southwest Florida — it handles moisture and stands up to heat, and plenty of local homes are already tiled. Dutch Grey SPC undercuts it on installed price and is meaningfully warmer and quieter underfoot. Grout lines are also eliminated, which removes a maintenance task entirely.

Where porcelain holds a real edge: it’s harder, lasts longer under extreme abrasion, and holds value differently with some buyers. It also tolerates higher heat — relevant if you’re tiling near an outdoor kitchen pass-through or a sunroom that gets direct exposure. For interior living areas, bedrooms, and kitchens, SPC is the faster and more comfortable install.

Care & maintenance

Sweep or vacuum Dutch Grey regularly — sandy grit is the main enemy of any vinyl wear layer, and it’s a constant reality in Southwest Florida homes. Clean with a pH-neutral floor cleaner such as Bona Hard-Surface Floor Cleaner or a comparable product diluted per the label; avoid anything acidic, oil-based, or abrasive. Skip steam mops entirely — the sustained heat and moisture they push into seams can compromise the locking system over time. Never use a vacuum with a rotating beater bar on resilient flooring, as it can scuff the wear layer surface. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.

Frequently asked questions

Will standing water actually damage this floor, or is ‘waterproof’ just marketing language?

Dutch Grey has a genuinely waterproof rigid core — standing water won’t swell or warp the planks themselves. The practical limit is the perimeter: water that sits against baseboards or seeps under the edges for extended periods can reach the subfloor beneath. Keep perimeter seams caulked in wet areas and the core stays protected.

We have two dogs — is this floor going to show scratches within a year?

The 20 mil wear layer is one of the thicker options in the residential SPC category and holds up well against pet nails under normal conditions. Cleanup of accidents is straightforward — the waterproof core means liquids don’t penetrate if wiped promptly. Larger, heavier breeds may eventually show light surface marks, but it will take considerably longer than a thinner wear layer would.

We’re only in Fort Myers from November through April — how does this floor hold up when the house sits empty all summer?

SPC rigid-core is one of the better flooring categories for seasonal homes because the rigid construction resists the expansion and contraction that wood-based floors go through during humidity swings. Dutch Grey can handle a closed-up Southwest Florida summer without buckling or gapping, provided your HVAC is set to maintain a reasonable indoor humidity level rather than shut off entirely.

Which rooms make sense for this floor, and are there any spots where I should pick something else?

Dutch Grey works well in living rooms, dining areas, bedrooms, kitchens, and hallways. It can go in bathrooms, though you’ll want perimeter caulking near the tub or shower base. It’s a floating floor, so it’s not the right choice for saunas or enclosed steam showers. Above-grade and on-slab installs are both standard scenarios for this product.

Does Flooring Queen install this outside of Fort Myers proper?

Flooring Queen installs Dutch Grey throughout the broader Southwest Florida area, including Cape Coral and Bonita Springs, as well as communities across Lee and Collier counties. If you’re unsure whether your address falls within our service area, a quick call to the showroom will confirm it before you schedule anything.

My house still has the original ceramic tile — does it have to come up first, or can this go right on top?

In many cases, Dutch Grey can float directly over existing ceramic or porcelain tile without removal, as long as the tile is fully bonded, level, and in good condition. Loose tiles, significant lippage between tiles, or a floor that’s already sitting high relative to door thresholds may require removal or grinding first. We assess that during the in-home measure so there are no surprises on install day.
