Specifications

Mocha SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a walnut-toned floor from Maxxi Floors’ Aquabella Collection built to hold up in the humidity and heat that Southwest Florida delivers year-round. The 9″ x 60″ plank format gives rooms a broad, open-grain look without the maintenance of real wood. It’s a practical choice that doesn’t sacrifice style.

What Mocha SPC Rigid-Core Plank is built for

At 6.5 mm thick with a rigid stone-polymer core, Mocha is engineered for the conditions that wear out softer flooring fast. Southwest Florida’s concrete slab foundations, high ambient humidity, and seasonal temperature swings are exactly what SPC construction is designed for. The core won’t swell or buckle when the air conditioner cycles off for a few weeks in a vacant seasonal home.

The 20 mil wear layer gives this floor real staying power in high-traffic areas — entryways, open-concept living rooms, kitchens. It’s also a strong candidate for coastal properties where salt air and tracked-in sand are constant. Rental units and snowbird homes benefit from a surface that cleans quickly and doesn’t need coddling between visits.

Installed pricing in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida

Flooring Queen installs Mocha at $3.99 per square foot, a flat rate that covers quite a bit: delivery to your home, removal of your old flooring, standard subfloor preparation, the installation itself, new baseboards, transition strips, and cleanup once the crew is done. You’re not getting a materials-only quote with hidden labor tacked on later.

Some situations do carry upcharges — significant subfloor leveling, stair nosing, elaborate room layouts, or custom border work fall outside the standard scope. Contact us for a free in-home measurement and we’ll walk through the full scope and put a firm written number in front of you before any work begins.

How Mocha SPC Rigid-Core Plank compares

Mocha SPC and engineered hardwood both deliver a wood-look floor, but they handle Southwest Florida’s conditions very differently. SPC’s stone-polymer core is fully waterproof — a spill left standing, a leak under the fridge, or high ambient humidity won’t damage it. Engineered hardwood’s plywood core tolerates some moisture but has limits; in a slab-on-grade home close to the coast, swelling and edge-cupping are real risks over time.

Where engineered hardwood has the edge: it feels warmer and more substantial underfoot, and a thick veneer can be lightly sanded and refinished at least once, extending its life. Mocha can’t be refinished — when the wear layer is gone, the floor is done. For kitchens, bathrooms, and vacation properties, Mocha is the safer bet. For a formal living room or primary bedroom where refinishing longevity matters more than waterproofing, engineered hardwood is worth the higher cost.

Care & maintenance

Sweep or vacuum regularly — use a hard-floor setting or a soft-bristle attachment, since rotating beater bars can scuff the surface over time. For mopping, a damp (not wet) mop with a pH-neutral cleaner like Bona Hard-Surface Floor Cleaner is the right call; avoid acidic or oil-based products, and keep steam mops off this floor entirely — the heat and moisture can compromise the locking joints. Because Mocha has a vinyl wear layer, there’s no sealing or refinishing cadence to track; just consistent, gentle cleaning keeps it looking right. Frequently asked questions

Will standing water actually damage this floor, or is ‘waterproof’ just marketing language?

Mocha’s stone-polymer core is genuinely waterproof — standing water won’t swell or warp the plank itself. The practical caveat: if water sits long enough to work through seams at the edges, the subfloor beneath can still be affected. Wipe up pooling water promptly, and the floor holds up fine.

My dogs are rough on floors — will this wear layer actually hold up to claws and accidents?

The 20 mil wear layer on Mocha is one of the thicker options in the residential vinyl category, and it handles pet nails and everyday scuffing well. Cleanup is straightforward — the waterproof surface doesn’t absorb accidents. Very large or heavy dogs with untrimmed nails can still leave marks over time, but most pet households find this floor durable.

Does Mocha come with an attached underlayment, or do I need to buy padding separately?

The product specs don’t list an attached underlayment pad for Mocha, so plan to discuss padding options with your installer. A separate underlayment can improve sound absorption and add a bit of softness underfoot — worth asking about during your in-home consultation, especially if you’re installing over a concrete slab.

What does it actually cost to maintain this floor year after year?

Ongoing maintenance costs for Mocha are minimal. A bottle of pH-neutral hard-floor cleaner runs a few dollars and lasts months. There’s no refinishing, no sealing schedule, and no specialist treatments required. Your main recurring expense is a good microfiber mop. Unlike hardwood, you won’t face periodic professional refinishing bills.

What’s the real difference between SPC and standard LVP, and why does it matter?

SPC (stone-polymer composite) uses a rigid core made from limestone powder and PVC, while traditional LVP has a softer, more flexible core. Mocha is SPC, which means it resists denting under heavy furniture better, holds flatter on uneven subfloors, and is less prone to temperature-related expansion — important in homes where the AC runs hard or gets turned off seasonally.

How many days should I block off for installation — one bedroom or a full house?

A single large room typically takes one day; a whole-home project covering 1,000–1,500 square feet generally runs two to three days depending on layout complexity and subfloor condition. SPC click-lock planks install efficiently, but rooms with many angles or doorways add time. Your installer can give you a firm schedule after the initial walkthrough.
