Specifications

Cream SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a soft, neutral-toned floor from Maxxi Floors’ Vanguard Collection that works equally well in a coastal cottage or a full-time family home. The cream colorway reads warm and clean without trending toward yellow or gray, making it a reliable foundation for almost any interior palette. Flooring Queen handles installation throughout Southwest Florida.

What Cream SPC Rigid-Core Plank is built for

At 7.0 mm thick with a rigid stone-plastic composite core, this plank doesn’t flex over uneven concrete slabs — a genuine advantage in Fort Myers and Cape Coral homes where slab-on-grade construction is the norm. The core won’t swell from the ground-level humidity that routinely damages wood-based floors in our climate.

The 20 mil wear layer is thick enough to hold up in high-traffic hallways, open-concept living areas, and rental properties where turnover is hard on surfaces. It also cleans up easily after sandy feet track in from the beach — which, in Southwest Florida, happens year-round.

Installed pricing in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida

Flooring Queen installs Cream SPC Rigid-Core Plank at $3.99 per square foot, and that price covers a complete job: delivery, removal of your old floor covering, standard subfloor preparation, the installation itself, baseboards, transition strips, and cleanup and removal of all debris when the crew leaves.

Certain conditions add to that base price. Significant subfloor leveling — common in older Southwest Florida homes — is quoted separately, as are stair nosing, intricate diagonal layouts, and decorative border work. Request a free in-home measure and you’ll receive a written quote before any work is scheduled.

How Cream SPC Rigid-Core Plank compares

Porcelain tile is the other go-to choice for Southwest Florida’s humidity and heavy-foot-traffic rooms, and it genuinely earns that reputation — it’s harder than SPC and lasts decades. But it costs significantly more to install, requires a skilled tile setter, and is unforgiving underfoot during long periods of standing. Grout lines also need periodic sealing and are prone to staining.

Cream SPC clicks together without mortar or grout, installs in a fraction of the time, and feels noticeably warmer and softer underfoot. It won’t crack if a heavy object drops on it the way a tile might. Where porcelain wins is in raw hardness and longevity in wet areas like shower surrounds — a place SPC doesn’t belong.

Care & maintenance

Sweep or dust-mop Cream SPC regularly — fine sand and grit from Southwest Florida’s outdoor lifestyle are the biggest threat to the wear layer over time. For mopping, use a pH-neutral cleaner such as Bona Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner diluted per label directions; avoid anything acidic or solvent-based. Never use a steam mop on SPC — the heat and pressurized moisture can compromise the locking joints and cause planks to lift or warp over time. A damp mop with a well-wrung-out microfiber pad is all you need for routine cleaning. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.

Frequently asked questions

Will standing water actually damage this floor, or is it truly waterproof?

The plank itself is 100% waterproof — the rigid SPC core won’t swell, buckle, or delaminate from water exposure. That said, standing water left indefinitely at the seams or baseboards can migrate to the subfloor beneath, so prompt cleanup of spills and flooding is still good practice.

My dogs are rough on floors — will the wear layer hold up to claws and accidents?

The 20 mil wear layer on this plank is thick enough to resist everyday pet scratching and is easy to clean after accidents. While no floor is completely scratch-proof under determined large-breed claws, 20 mil is on the more durable end of the residential-to-light-commercial spectrum and outperforms thinner 6–12 mil options.

What’s a realistic timeframe for getting a whole house done with this floor?

A single room typically installs in a day; a full home usually runs two to four days depending on square footage, furniture moving, and how much subfloor preparation is required. SPC click-lock installation is straightforward, which keeps labor time reasonable compared to glue-down or mortar-set alternatives.

Those 9-by-60-inch planks sound large — how does that size affect the way a room looks?

The 9″ × 60″ format is a wide-plank, long-board size that reduces the number of seams visible across a floor, making rooms read as more open and continuous. It’s particularly effective in open-concept Southwest Florida homes with longer sightlines, and the large format also means fewer cuts around obstacles.

Does this plank come with an underlayment pad already attached?

The product specifications for Cream Vanguard Collection do not list an attached underlayment pad. If the planks arrive without one pre-attached, a separate thin-profile underlayment is typically recommended for sound dampening and minor subfloor imperfection absorption — confirm this with your Flooring Queen installer during the measure visit.

Can this go down directly over my old tile or vinyl, or does the existing floor have to come up first?

In many cases, yes — SPC rigid-core click-lock planks can float over existing hard, flat surfaces like tile or vinyl without removal, as long as the substrate is structurally sound and level within acceptable tolerances. Loose tiles, thick vinyl with cushion backing, or significant height transitions may require removal first; the installer will assess this at measure.
