Pearl SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — an ivory-toned floor from Maxxi Floors’ Summer Collection that reads clean and airy in any room. The soft, neutral color suits the coastal light of Southwest Florida without competing with your furniture or walls. At 6.5 mm thick with a 20 mil wear layer, it’s built to perform, not just look good.

What Pearl SPC Rigid-Core Plank is built for

Southwest Florida homes are hard on floors. Humidity hovers high most of the year, concrete slabs are the norm, and salt air near the coast accelerates wear on materials that weren’t built for it. Pearl’s rigid SPC core doesn’t swell, warp, or shift the way wood-based flooring does when moisture levels change — which makes it a reliable choice for first-floor living rooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, and bathrooms alike.

The 20 mil wear layer adds meaningful resistance to the daily friction of sandy floors, heavy furniture, and foot traffic. Rental properties and snowbird homes are also well-suited here — this floor handles periods of low occupancy and humidity swings without buckling.

Installed pricing in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida

Pearl installs at $3.99 per square foot, and that price covers the full job: delivery to your home, removal of your existing flooring, surface prep for a typical slab, installation of the planks, new baseboards, and transition strips between rooms. Cleanup and debris removal are included. There’s no hidden labor charge added at the end.

Some situations do carry an upcharge — significant subfloor leveling beyond standard prep, stair nosing, complex room shapes requiring custom cuts, or decorative border work. The best way to lock in your number is to schedule a free in-home measurement. We’ll walk the space, note any conditions that could affect the price, and leave you with a written quote before any work begins.

How Pearl SPC Rigid-Core Plank compares

Shoppers drawn to Pearl’s ivory tone often look at engineered hardwood for the same clean, natural feel. Engineered hardwood delivers a real wood surface that can be lightly refinished and adds perceived warmth that some buyers associate with higher home value. But in Southwest Florida’s climate, it has real limitations: engineered hardwood is moisture-tolerant, not waterproof, and the core layers can still swell or delaminate in high-humidity rooms or on slabs with minor moisture vapor.

Pearl’s SPC core is fully waterproof through the entire plank — not just at the surface — which makes it safer for kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms where engineered hardwood typically isn’t recommended. The trade-off is that SPC cannot be refinished, so surface scratches are permanent. Engineered hardwood also costs more to install.

Care & maintenance

Sweep or dry-mop Pearl regularly to remove the fine grit and sand that Southwest Florida homes collect quickly — abrasive particles left on the surface are the most common cause of premature wear-layer dulling. For damp cleaning, use a pH-neutral vinyl floor cleaner such as Bona Stone, Tile & Laminate or a diluted dish-soap solution; avoid acidic cleaners, wax-based products, and anything with bleach at high concentration. Never use a steam mop on SPC flooring — sustained heat and pressurized moisture can compromise the locking joints and the adhesion between layers over time. A microfiber flat mop is the right tool for routine wet cleaning. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.

Frequently asked questions

Will standing water — like from a dishwasher leak or a wet bathing suit on the floor — actually damage this floor?

Pearl’s SPC core is 100% waterproof, so standing water won’t cause the plank itself to swell or warp. That said, prolonged moisture sitting in the seams between planks can eventually work its way to the subfloor beneath. Clean up pooled water promptly, and the floor itself will be fine.

We have two large dogs — is a 20 mil wear layer going to hold up to their nails over the years?

A 20 mil wear layer is a solid choice for pet households. It resists everyday scratching from dog nails better than thinner 6 or 8 mil options, and any accidents clean up without staining the core. Deep gouges from very large breeds are still possible — no vinyl floor is scratch-proof — but routine wear holds up well.

What’s the actual difference between SPC and the standard LVP I keep seeing at the big-box stores?

SPC — Stone Plastic Composite — uses a rigid core filled with limestone powder, which makes the plank stiffer and more dimensionally stable than traditional flexible LVP. Pearl is SPC. That rigidity means fewer soft spots over uneven subfloors, better resistance to heavy furniture indentation, and more stable performance in rooms with temperature swings.

Does vinyl plank flooring help or hurt a home’s resale value down here in SWFL?

Quality vinyl plank in good condition is generally neutral-to-positive for resale in Southwest Florida — buyers here prioritize waterproof, low-maintenance floors over real wood, which they know is risky in this climate. It won’t appraise the way hardwood does in northern markets, but it’s unlikely to be a detractor when the floor looks clean and well-installed.

Which rooms should I use Pearl in, and are there any spots where it’s not a great fit?

Pearl works well in living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and entryways — essentially any room on a standard residential slab. It’s not designed for outdoor use or spaces with direct sun exposure through uncovered glass for extended hours daily, which can affect surface color over time. There are no grade restrictions for a standard Southwest Florida slab install.

Our home sits empty from May through October — is this floor going to be okay with the house closed up and the AC on a setback setting?

SPC flooring handles seasonal vacancy better than wood-based products. The rigid limestone-filled core doesn’t respond to humidity and temperature cycling the way engineered hardwood or laminate does. Set your AC to hold the home around 78–80°F while you’re away, keep humidity below 60%, and Pearl should come through the summer without buckling, gapping, or warping.
