Sand SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a warm beige floor from Maxxi Floors’ Summer Collection that reads light and airy without feeling cold. It’s a rigid-core vinyl plank built for real homes, not showrooms. The beige tone works well with the coastal, sun-bleached interiors common throughout Southwest Florida.

What Sand SPC Rigid-Core Plank is built for

Sand is built for the conditions Southwest Florida actually throws at floors. The 6.5 mm rigid core won’t flex, buckle, or shift on concrete slab foundations — the standard subfloor in most Fort Myers homes. High humidity, salt air near the coast, and the occasional tracked-in water from a pool or rain shower are well within what this floor handles.

The 20 mil wear layer makes it a solid choice for high-traffic areas and seasonal or rental properties where floors take consistent abuse with little daily attention. Whether the home sits occupied year-round or sits empty for months at a time during off-season, Sand holds up without warping or swelling.

Installed pricing in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida

Flooring Queen installs Sand at $3.99 per square foot, and that price covers the full job: delivery, removal of your existing floor covering, standard subfloor preparation, installation, baseboards, and transition strips between rooms. Old materials are loaded and removed from the property — nothing left for you to deal with.

Some situations add to that base price. Significant low spots or high spots in the subfloor that need leveling compounds are billed separately, as are stair nosing installations and any custom layout patterns beyond a standard straight run. How Sand SPC Rigid-Core Plank compares

Waterproof laminate has improved a lot and competes directly with SPC on price and visual appeal. Both offer a wood-look plank and a hard underfoot feel. The meaningful difference is the core. Sand’s SPC core is 100% stone-plastic composite — it will not swell if water gets under the joint. Most waterproof laminates resist surface moisture but can still swell at seams with prolonged exposure, which matters in bathrooms, laundry rooms, and Florida kitchens.

Where laminate sometimes has an edge is acoustics — some laminate products with thicker attached pads feel slightly quieter underfoot. But for homes on concrete slabs in high-humidity climates, SPC is the more conservative, lower-risk choice. Laminate installed in Southwest Florida carries a real long-term moisture risk that SPC largely eliminates.

Care & maintenance

Sweep or vacuum Sand regularly to clear fine grit and sand — common in Southwest Florida homes — before it works against the wear layer. For mopping, use a damp mop only with a pH-neutral cleaner formulated for vinyl or SPC floors; Bona Stone, Tile & Laminate Floor Cleaner is a reliable option. Do not use a steam mop on this floor — the sustained heat and moisture pressure can compromise the locking joints over time. Avoid wax-based products or anything with ammonia or bleach, as these can dull the surface finish and leave residue that attracts dirt. Frequently asked questions

Will standing water damage this floor if my dishwasher leaks or the dog knocks over the water bowl?

Sand’s SPC core is fully waterproof — standing water on the surface won’t damage the plank itself. Where you need to be careful is at the perimeter edges and transitions; water that sits for a long time against baseboards or seeps under the floor at wall gaps can affect the subfloor beneath, not the plank. Clean spills promptly and maintain your perimeter caulk or base shoe.

My dogs run laps through the house all day — how well does this hold up to claws and pet traffic?

Sand’s 20 mil wear layer gives it strong scratch resistance for a residential floor, making it one of the more durable options for homes with active dogs. It won’t be invisible after years of heavy pet use, but it handles claw traffic and cleanup from accidents far better than hardwood or laminate. Trim your pets’ nails regularly to extend the surface life.

Does Sand come with a pad already attached, or do I need to buy underlayment separately?

The product specs for Sand do not indicate an attached underlayment pad, so plan to discuss underlayment options with Flooring Queen before installation. On concrete slab floors — the most common subfloor in Fort Myers — a separate thin foam or cork underlayment can improve sound absorption and add a small amount of warmth underfoot without compromising the locking system.

What size are the planks, and will they make my room feel bigger or choppier?

The product specs list thickness at 6.5 mm but do not specify plank length or width — your Flooring Queen rep can confirm the exact dimensions before you order. Generally speaking, longer and wider planks read as more open in a room, while shorter planks create a busier visual pattern. Ask about layout direction relative to your longest wall for the best result.

If I’m replacing floors in most of the house, how many days should I block off for the crew?

A single average-size room typically takes one day to complete once the old floor is out and the subfloor is ready. Whole-home projects in Southwest Florida — often 1,500 to 2,500 square feet — generally run two to four days depending on room count and any subfloor work needed. Your written quote will include a project schedule so you know what to expect before the crew shows up.

Are there any rooms where Sand isn’t a great fit, or places I shouldn’t install it?

Sand works well in living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, and bathrooms — the waterproof core makes wet areas a non-issue. It’s not suited for outdoor installations or spaces with direct sun exposure through uncovered glass for most of the day, as prolonged UV and heat can cause expansion in any vinyl product. Check with Flooring Queen about areas with extreme direct sunlight before committing.
