Specifications

Pinnacle – Sussex SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a natural-toned floor from Happy Feet’s Pinnacle collection built to hold up in real homes. At 11.5 mm thick with a 28 mil wear layer and Stabilicor® rigid core, it brings serious durability to a straightforward, livable look. Flooring Queen installs it throughout Southwest Florida.

What Pinnacle – Sussex SPC Rigid-Core Plank is built for

Sussex is built for the conditions Southwest Florida actually throws at floors: high humidity, concrete slab foundations, and the kind of moisture that migrates up from below grade. The Stabilicor® rigid core resists warping and won’t swell the way traditional LVP can when ambient humidity swings between season and storm season.

The 28 mil wear layer is thick enough for households with dogs, heavy foot traffic, and the grit that gets tracked in from sandy driveways and coastal walks. It also holds up well in seasonal rentals and snowbird properties that sit empty through hot, humid summers — the core stays dimensionally stable without daily climate control.

Installed pricing in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida

At $3.99 per square foot installed, the price covers everything a standard job requires: delivery, removal of your existing floor covering, subfloor prep for level surfaces, the installation itself, baseboards, and transition strips. Old flooring comes out and gets hauled off — nothing is left for you to deal with.

Some conditions cost more. If the subfloor needs significant leveling — common on older slabs in Fort Myers — that’s an upcharge. Stair nosing, custom border work, and intricate diagonal or herringbone layouts also carry additional labor. Request a free in-home measure and you’ll receive a written quote before any work is scheduled.

How Pinnacle – Sussex SPC Rigid-Core Plank compares

Sussex SPC and engineered hardwood appeal to similar buyers — both offer a wood-look floor with more stability than solid hardwood. The difference comes down to moisture tolerance and maintenance. Sussex has a fully waterproof rigid core, which makes it a better fit for bathrooms, laundry rooms, and any space on a concrete slab where moisture can be a factor. Engineered hardwood can handle humidity but is not waterproof, and standing water will damage it over time.

Where engineered hardwood wins: it feels and sounds more like real wood underfoot, it can often be lightly sanded and refinished once or twice, and it tends to appeal more to buyers at resale. Sussex wins on total cost, moisture protection, and day-to-day resilience in a high-traffic household.

Care & maintenance

Sweep or dry-mop Sussex regularly to clear the grit and sand that act as fine abrasives on any floor finish. For damp cleaning, use a pH-neutral vinyl cleaner — brands like Bona Hard-Surface Floor Cleaner work well — applied with a well-wrung mop rather than a soaking-wet one. Never use a steam mop on SPC flooring; the sustained heat and moisture can compromise the locking joints and the adhesive layers in the construction. Avoid wax-based polishes and anything with bleach or ammonia, as these break down the ZeroMark® stain-resistant finish over time. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.

Frequently asked questions

Will standing water or a plumbing leak actually damage this floor?

Sussex has a waterproof rigid core, so standing water won’t swell or warp the planks themselves. That said, water that sits long enough can migrate under the floor and affect the subfloor beneath it, so cleaning up spills and leaks promptly is still a good habit even with a waterproof floor.

My dogs are rough on floors — is 28 mil thick enough to handle them?

The 28 mil wear layer on Sussex is one of the thicker options available in residential SPC, placing it well above the 12 mil and 20 mil products that show claw marks quickly. Everyday scratching from pets is unlikely to penetrate it, though sharp nails on a running dog can still leave surface marks over years of use.

What’s actually different about SPC versus regular luxury vinyl plank?

Sussex is SPC — Stone Plastic Composite — meaning the core is extruded from a mix of limestone and PVC, which makes it denser and more rigid than standard LVP. That rigidity means it resists denting under heavy furniture, bridges minor subfloor imperfections better, and stays flat in temperature swings without the soft flex you feel in traditional LVP.

Does Sussex come with an attached underlayment pad?

The product facts for Sussex do not list an attached pad, so you should assume it ships without one. If your installer recommends adding a separate underlayment for sound dampening or added cushion over concrete, that can typically be factored into your quote — ask about it when Flooring Queen does your in-home measure.

Which rooms in my house make the most sense for this floor — and where should I skip it?

Sussex installs as a floating click-lock floor and is fully waterproof, making it a solid choice for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and living areas on any grade — including below-grade spaces. It’s not the softest floor underfoot, so some homeowners prefer carpet in bedrooms. It works on both slab and wood subfloors.

Can this go straight down over my old tile without pulling everything up first?

Sussex can often float over existing hard surfaces like ceramic tile or vinyl as long as the surface is flat, firmly bonded, and within acceptable height tolerances for the transition strips at doorways. Loose tiles, raised grout lines, or uneven spots need to be addressed first — your installer will check all of that during the pre-install measure.
