Tango SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a caramel-toned rigid-core floor from Neptune’s Valor collection. The warm caramel wood look works well in homes that want the feel of natural hardwood without the moisture concerns. Flooring Queen handles the full installation from Cape Coral to Naples.

What Tango SPC Rigid-Core Plank is built for

Tango is built for the realities of Southwest Florida living. Its 100% waterproof rigid core handles the humidity that comes with concrete slab construction, coastal salt air, and the heavy rainfall this region gets most of the year. The IXPE pre-attached backing adds a slight cushion while acting as a vapor barrier against the slab.

The 22-mil wear layer and antimicrobial finish make it a practical choice for rental properties and snowbird homes that see seasonal foot traffic, sandy floors from beach days, and extended periods with the AC off. It’s built to hold up, not just look good on move-in day.

Installed pricing in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida

Flooring Queen installs Tango at $3.99 per square foot, and that price covers more than just the planks going down. It includes delivery, removal of your existing floor covering, standard subfloor preparation, full installation, baseboard reinstallation, transition strips at doorways, and cleanup and disposal of the old material.

A few things fall outside that base price: significant subfloor leveling work, stair nosing, complex layouts like herringbone or diagonal runs, and custom border inlays. Not sure how much you need? We offer a free in-home measurement and a written quote before any work begins so there are no surprises on the final invoice.

How Tango SPC Rigid-Core Plank compares

Tango and engineered hardwood are often cross-shopped because they share a wood-look aesthetic in similar plank widths. The key difference is moisture tolerance. Engineered hardwood uses a real wood veneer over a plywood core — it resists humidity better than solid wood, but it is not waterproof. A wet mopping, a slow leak, or Florida’s ground moisture coming up through a slab can still cause swelling or delamination over time.

Tango’s stone-plastic composite core does not swell, warp, or react to standing water. Engineered hardwood has the edge in authenticity — you can feel the real wood grain and, depending on veneer thickness, refinish it once or twice. Tango cannot be refinished. For Southwest Florida’s climate and slab-on-grade homes, the SPC holds a practical advantage. For buyers who want genuine wood and are willing to manage moisture carefully, engineered hardwood remains a valid choice.

Care & maintenance

Sweep or dust-mop Tango regularly to keep fine sand and grit from working against the wear layer underfoot. For damp mopping, use a pH-neutral vinyl floor cleaner — brands like Bona Stone, Tile & Laminate or Simple Green Naturals diluted properly work well. Never use a steam mop; the sustained heat can soften the locking joints and cause planks to shift or gap over time. Skip wax-based polishes and oil soaps, which leave a buildup that dulls the finish. For sticky spots, a barely damp microfiber cloth handles most situations without any cleaner at all. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.

Frequently asked questions

Will standing water actually damage this floor, or is ‘waterproof’ just a marketing claim?

Tango’s stone-plastic composite core is genuinely 100% waterproof — the plank itself will not swell, warp, or delaminate from water exposure. That said, standing water left long enough can seep under the floor at seams or edges and affect the subfloor beneath it. Wipe up spills and fix leaks promptly to protect the structure under the floor.

My dog is 70 pounds and has claws — is the wear layer on this floor going to hold up?

The 22-mil wear layer on Tango is a commercial-grade rating that handles pets well in everyday use. It resists surface scratches from claws better than thinner 8- or 12-mil options. Cleanup of accidents is simple since the core is fully waterproof. Very large dogs with sharp nails on a daily basis will eventually show wear, but 22 mil puts this floor in the durable end of the vinyl spectrum.

What makes SPC different from regular LVP, and does it matter for day-to-day use?

SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) uses a rigid core made from limestone and PVC, while traditional LVP has a flexible, all-plastic core. Tango is SPC, which means it is denser, harder underfoot, and more resistant to denting under heavy furniture. The trade-off is that SPC is slightly less forgiving underfoot than softer LVP, though the IXPE backing on Tango adds back some cushion.

Are there rooms in my house where this floor wouldn’t be a good fit?

Tango’s floating installation works on any grade — slab-on-grade, above grade, or basement level — and its waterproof core makes it appropriate for bathrooms, laundry rooms, and kitchens. It is not suited for outdoor or covered-lanai applications with direct sun exposure and temperature swings beyond normal interior ranges. For any room inside a conditioned living space, it is a reasonable fit.

Does putting SPC vinyl down help or hurt my home’s value if I go to sell in SWFL?

Quality SPC vinyl in good condition is broadly accepted by buyers in the Southwest Florida market and rarely hurts a sale. It won’t command the same premium that real hardwood might in a luxury listing, but it photographs well, reads as clean and updated, and is recognized by buyers as low-maintenance — which matters here. Homes with worn carpet or damaged tile often see more value from this upgrade than the floor cost to install.
