Whiskey SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a warm caramel wood-look floor from Neptune’s Valor collection. The wide-plank format and embossed-in-register texture give it the kind of depth that flat prints can’t match. Flooring Queen installs it throughout Southwest Florida for homeowners who want a hardwood feel without the maintenance that comes with it.

What Whiskey SPC Rigid-Core Plank is built for

Neptune Whiskey was built for the conditions Southwest Florida actually throws at a floor. The 100% waterproof rigid core doesn’t swell or buckle when humidity spikes, which matters in a coastal climate where the air stays heavy for months at a time. Pre-attached IXPE backing gives it a softer feel over concrete slab — the foundation type under most Fort Myers homes.

The antimicrobial finish addresses the mold and mildew concerns that come with salt air and year-round warmth. Rental properties and snowbird homes benefit from that too: a floor that resists bacterial growth and cleans up easily between tenants or seasonal stays.

Installed pricing in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida

At $3.99 per square foot installed, the price covers everything a standard job requires: product delivery, removal of your existing floor covering, subfloor cleaning and minor prep work, full installation, new baseboards, transition strips where floors meet in doorways, and debris removal when the crew leaves.

Some situations add cost. Heavy leveling compounds for significantly uneven slabs, stair nosing, intricate diagonal layouts, or decorative border work are quoted separately. Flooring Queen offers a free in-home measurement and provides a written line-item estimate before any work begins — no surprises on the final invoice.

How Whiskey SPC Rigid-Core Plank compares

Engineered hardwood gives you a real wood veneer and the warmth that comes with it — that’s a genuine advantage if the look of natural wood grain matters to you. But in Southwest Florida, engineered hardwood requires careful humidity management, and moisture intrusion from below (common on concrete slabs) can still cause cupping or delamination over time. It also runs significantly higher installed.

Whiskey SPC wins on moisture immunity, durability on slabs, and price. It won’t need refinishing, and the 22-mil wear layer is thicker than most engineered products. Where engineered hardwood holds an edge: it can be lightly sanded and refinished if surface damage is severe, and the real-wood surface has a texture no vinyl emboss fully replicates.

Care & maintenance

Sweep or vacuum Whiskey weekly to keep grit from grinding into the wear layer — use a hard-floor setting on your vacuum, not a spinning beater bar. For mopping, a damp microfiber mop with a pH-neutral cleaner like Bona Hard-Surface Floor Cleaner or a diluted Simple Green solution works well. Avoid steam mops entirely: sustained heat and pressurized moisture can compromise the locking joints and loosen the IXPE backing over time. Skip wax-based polishes and oil soaps — they leave residue that dulls the finish and is difficult to remove. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.

Frequently asked questions

Will standing water actually damage this floor, or is ‘waterproof’ just marketing?

Whiskey is genuinely 100% waterproof through the full rigid core — standing water won’t cause the plank itself to swell, warp, or delaminate. The protection applies to spills, pet accidents, and moisture from below on a slab. What waterproof doesn’t cover is water that migrates under baseboards or through gaps at the perimeter, so proper sealing at transitions still matters.

My dogs are rough on floors — is this wear layer thick enough to hold up?

The 22-mil wear layer on Whiskey is well above the residential standard of 12 mil and handles normal pet traffic, claw scratching, and the occasional dragged food bowl without wearing through. Cleanup is straightforward since the waterproof core means urine and spills don’t soak in. Deep gouges from very large, active dogs are still possible, but daily wear won’t show for years.

How many days should I block off for installation?

A single room typically takes one day or less. A full home — say, 1,200 to 1,500 square feet — usually runs two to three days depending on layout complexity, number of transitions, and how much subfloor prep is needed. Whiskey uses a Tight Lock / Tap Down floating system, which is straightforward for an experienced installer and doesn’t require adhesive or cure time.

These planks look wide — does that change how the room feels or how it gets installed?

At 9.13 inches wide and just over 60 inches long, Whiskey’s planks are large-format by residential standards, which means fewer seams across a room and a more open visual effect — particularly noticeable in smaller spaces. Wider planks do require a reasonably flat subfloor since any high or low spots are harder to hide, so your installer will check flatness before starting.

We’re only here half the year — how does this floor hold up when the house sits empty?

Whiskey’s rigid SPC core tolerates the temperature and humidity swings common in seasonal Southwest Florida homes better than wood-based floors do. The rigid core doesn’t expand and contract dramatically during unoccupied months, so you won’t return to buckled or gapped planks. Keeping the AC set to a stable temperature — around 75°F — while you’re away extends the floor’s life and keeps the IXPE backing bonded.

What does the warranty actually cover, and for how long?

Neptune backs Whiskey with a lifetime limited residential warranty and a 15-year commercial and light-commercial warranty. Residential lifetime coverage typically addresses manufacturing defects, wear-through, and stain resistance under normal use conditions. The commercial warranty applies to higher-traffic environments. Review Neptune’s full warranty document for specific exclusions — installation-related issues and damage from improper maintenance are generally not covered under any manufacturer warranty.
