Specifications

Rossara Engineered Hardwood starts at $8.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a wirebrushed European White Oak from LW Flooring’s Sonoma Valley collection in a warm caramel tone. The wide 7-1/2″ planks and high natural variation give each room a floor that reads as genuinely wood, not a reproduction. Flooring Queen installs it across Southwest Florida with a full-service process from measure to completion.

What Rossara Engineered Hardwood is built for

European White Oak is one of the more dimensionally stable hardwood species available, which matters in Southwest Florida where humidity swings between the dry season and summer. The engineered construction — with its layered core — resists the cupping and gapping that solid wood can develop on concrete slab foundations, the most common subfloor type here.

The wirebrushed finish does real work in this climate: the texture disguises fine scratches and the inevitable film of sandy grit that drifts in from outside. For snowbird owners or rental properties that need a floor with character and a lifetime residential warranty, Rossara is a practical choice.

Installed pricing in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida

Flooring Queen installs Rossara at $8.99 per square foot, and that number covers the full scope of a standard job: delivery to your home, removal and disposal of your existing floor covering, surface prep for a flat and clean substrate, installation of the planks, and finishing details including baseboards and transition strips.

Certain scopes add cost — significant subfloor leveling beyond minor corrections, stair nosing, or custom inlay patterns fall outside the base rate. The best starting point is a free in-home measurement where we assess the actual condition of your slab and give you a written quote before any work begins.

How Rossara Engineered Hardwood compares

Rossara and solid hardwood share the same European White Oak species and similar surface character, so the visual result is close. The practical differences are meaningful, though. Solid hardwood expands and contracts more dramatically with humidity changes — a real concern in Southwest Florida’s wet summers — and it typically requires nail-down installation over a wood subfloor. Rossara’s engineered construction allows float, glue, or nail installation, making it compatible with the concrete slabs that dominate homes here.

Where solid hardwood has an edge: a thick solid board can be sanded and refinished more times over its life. Rossara’s 2 mm wear layer supports light refinishing, but you have fewer passes available than you would with a 3/4″ solid plank.

Rossara Solid Hardwood

Scratch resistance / wear layer 2 mm European White Oak wear layer Varies; full-thickness wood, more sand-and-refinish cycles
Comfort underfoot Warm, natural wood feel Identical species feel, slightly more solid
Installed price $8.99 per sq ft installed Typically $10–$14+ per sq ft installed
Best room Living areas, bedrooms, on slab Above-grade rooms with wood subfloor

Care & maintenance

Sweep or vacuum with a soft-bristle attachment daily — gritty Southwest Florida sand is the main wear culprit on any wood finish. For cleaning, use a hardwood-specific product such as Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner or a WOCA-approved cleaner applied with a damp (not wet) mop; standing water on engineered wood is never safe. Skip steam mops entirely — the heat and moisture can delaminate the wear layer over time. Acidic or ammonia-based household cleaners will dull the polyurethane-and-aluminum-oxide finish, so stick to pH-balanced hardwood solutions only. Frequently asked questions

How long does Rossara need to sit in my house before your crew installs it?

Engineered hardwood should acclimate for at least 72 hours inside your home before installation. In Southwest Florida’s year-round humidity, that window lets the planks adjust to your indoor climate conditions and reduces the risk of movement at the joints after the floor is laid. Keep the HVAC running at normal living temperatures during this period.

With only a 2 mm wear layer, is there any point in refinishing this floor down the road?

Yes, Rossara can be lightly refinished, but the 2 mm wear layer limits you to one careful screen-and-recoat rather than a deep sand-down. That’s enough to freshen a dulled finish or address minor surface scratches, but it won’t survive the aggressive sanding a solid plank could handle. Plan for one refinish cycle over the floor’s life.

We leave our Fort Myers home empty from May through October — will this floor hold up through those months unoccupied?

Rossara’s engineered construction handles seasonal vacancy better than solid hardwood, but it still needs a stable indoor environment. Set your HVAC or a dehumidifier to maintain relative humidity between roughly 35–55% while you’re away. Wide planks like these 7-1/2″ boards show movement more visibly if humidity swings go unchecked, so some climate control is worth the utility cost.

Does Flooring Queen install this in Cape Coral and Naples, or only in Fort Myers?

Flooring Queen installs Rossara throughout Southwest Florida, including Cape Coral, Naples, Bonita Springs, Estero, and the surrounding communities. If you’re outside those areas, call us — we cover a wide service radius and can confirm availability when you schedule your in-home measurement.

Can this go right over my existing tile floor, or does the old tile have to come up first?

Whether Rossara can go over existing tile depends on the height, flatness, and condition of that surface. The product supports float and glue installation methods, which are sometimes compatible with a well-bonded, flat tile substrate — but any lippage or hollow spots need to be addressed first. We assess the existing surface during your free measurement and tell you exactly what prep is needed before the quote is finalized.

My dogs are rough on floors — how does the wear layer on this hold up against pet claws and accidents?

The 2 mm European White Oak wear layer protected by a polyurethane-and-aluminum-oxide finish offers meaningful scratch resistance for everyday pet traffic, though large or heavy dogs with untrimmed nails will eventually leave marks on any wood surface. Clean up pet accidents quickly — engineered wood tolerates brief moisture exposure but prolonged wet contact can affect the core. Keeping nails trimmed is the single most effective thing you can do to preserve the finish.
