Regency – Sandy Bay SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99/sq ft installed in Fort Myers — a warm, natural-toned floor from Happy Feet’s Regency collection that reads like real wood without any of the moisture worries. Sandy Bay lands in a relaxed neutral that works well with coastal and transitional interiors alike. Flooring Queen carries and installs it throughout Southwest Florida.
Sandy Bay’s Stabilicor® rigid core doesn’t expand and contract the way standard LVP does, which matters in Southwest Florida homes where the AC runs hard all summer and may shut off entirely between snowbird seasons. The 8mm total thickness — including a 2mm green EVA underlayment — sits comfortably on concrete slab, the foundation type under the vast majority of Cape Coral and Fort Myers homes.
The 20 mil wear layer and ceramic bead finish give this floor real staying power in high-traffic rooms: kitchens, great rooms, hallways. It’s also a practical choice for rental properties and seasonal homes that take humidity swings hard.

Flooring Queen installs Regency – Sandy Bay at $3.99 per square foot, with material and labor bundled together. That price covers delivery to your home, removal of your existing flooring, surface preparation for a standard slab, installation, baseboard reinstallation, and transition strips between rooms. Cleanup and debris removal are included — you don’t coordinate a separate haul-off.
Upcharges apply when conditions go beyond standard: significant subfloor leveling, stair nosing, diagonal or herringbone layouts, and custom border work all add cost. The best way to get a firm number is a free in-home measurement — Flooring Queen provides a written quote before any work begins.
Engineered hardwood gives you a real wood veneer and a warmer, more traditional look underfoot — things Sandy Bay approximates but doesn’t replicate exactly. Where Sandy Bay pulls ahead is moisture tolerance. Engineered hardwood can handle occasional humidity swings, but standing water and prolonged damp — common in Florida bathrooms, laundry rooms, and lanai-adjacent spaces — can still cause edge-swelling or delamination over time. Sandy Bay’s rigid core is fully waterproof through the plank.
Engineered hardwood can also be lightly sanded and refinished once, extending its life if the surface wears. Sandy Bay cannot be refinished. On cost, Sandy Bay comes in meaningfully lower, which makes it easier to justify in rentals, second homes, or whole-house projects where budget is a real constraint.
| Regency – Sandy Bay | Engineered Hardwood | |
|---|---|---|
| Water resistance | 100% waterproof rigid core | Moisture-tolerant, not waterproof |
| Scratch resistance / wear layer | 20 mil ceramic bead finish | Real wood veneer, refinishable once |
| Comfort underfoot | 8mm with attached EVA pad | Thicker, warmer feel; no pad needed |
| Installed price | $3.99/sq ft installed | ~$8.99/sq ft installed |
| Best room | Kitchens, baths, rentals, slabs | Bedrooms, living rooms, low-humidity spaces |
Sweep or vacuum on a hard-floor setting — avoid a rotating beater bar, which can scuff the wear layer over time. Damp-mop with a pH-neutral cleaner such as Bona Hard-Surface Floor Cleaner or a diluted Simple Green solution; wring the mop nearly dry before it touches the floor. Avoid steam mops entirely — the heat and pressure can soften the adhesive bond at the click joints and cause planks to lift or gap. Don’t use wax, polish, or solvent-based cleaners; the ceramic bead finish doesn’t need them and they’ll leave a residue that dulls the surface. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.
Regency – Sandy Bay has a fully waterproof rigid core, meaning the plank itself won’t swell, warp, or delaminate from moisture exposure. That said, water left pooling at seams or under baseboards long-term can eventually reach the subfloor beneath — so wiping up spills and fixing leaks promptly still matters.
The 20 mil wear layer on Sandy Bay is thick enough to resist everyday scratching from dog nails without showing damage quickly. Accidents clean up without soaking in, since the core is waterproof. For context, 20 mil is well above the 12 mil minimum most flooring professionals recommend for homes with pets.
Flooring Queen installs Regency – Sandy Bay throughout the greater Fort Myers area and surrounding communities, including Cape Coral and Bonita Springs. SPC vinyl in a quality color like Sandy Bay is broadly accepted by today’s SWFL buyers, especially in mid-range and investment properties. It won’t add the same perceived value as real wood in a luxury listing, but it won’t hurt a sale either — and its waterproof rating is often a positive selling point in a coastal market.
Regency – Sandy Bay includes a 2mm green EVA underlayment already bonded to the plank, so no separate underlayment purchase is needed. That attached layer reduces hollow sound when you walk across it and adds a small amount of give underfoot — a noticeable difference compared to thinner SPC products installed directly on concrete slab.
Sandy Bay’s Stabilicor® rigid core is dimensionally stable enough to handle the temperature and humidity swings a closed-up Florida home sees between May and October. Unlike solid wood or standard LVP, it won’t cup or gap significantly when the AC cycles off for extended periods — making it a practical choice for snowbird and seasonal-use homes.
