Regency – Oxford SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a warm caramel-toned floor from Happy Feet’s Regency collection that reads like real hardwood without any of the moisture headaches. The wide 7-by-59-inch plank format stretches a room visually, and the painted bevel edge gives each board a clean, defined shadow line. It’s a practical choice for Southwest Florida homes that want character without compromise.
Southwest Florida throws a lot at a floor: high humidity, slab-on-grade construction, salt air within a mile of the water, and the constant grit that sandy shoes drag in. Oxford is built around a Stabilicor® extruded composite core — a rigid, dimensionally stable platform that doesn’t expand and contract the way traditional vinyl or wood products do in our climate swings. The 20 mil ceramic-bead-finished wear layer resists scuffs from furniture legs, pet nails, and the day-to-day traffic of a busy household.
It works well in living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, and open-plan great rooms. The 8 mm total thickness — which includes a 2 mm attached green EVA pad — gives the plank enough mass that it feels solid underfoot on concrete slabs, which is the foundation type under the vast majority of homes in Lee and Collier counties.

Flooring Queen installs Regency – Oxford at $3.99 per square foot, and that price is all-in for standard residential projects. It covers delivery to your home, removal of your existing floor covering, surface prep for a clean and level substrate, the click-lock installation itself, reinstallation of baseboards, transition strips between rooms, and removal of the old material from your property.
A few things do carry an upcharge: significant subfloor leveling work beyond routine prep, stair nosing, any intricate diagonal or custom-border layout. The best way to know exactly what your project will cost is to schedule a free in-home measure — you’ll walk away with a written quote broken out line by line, no surprises at the job site.
Shoppers who love the caramel wood look of Oxford often consider engineered hardwood as an alternative, and for good reason — real wood veneer has a warmth and grain authenticity that even a well-made SPC plank can’t fully replicate. Where engineered hardwood falls short for Southwest Florida is moisture tolerance. An engineered plank can cup or swell if humidity surges or if water sits on the surface and works into the seams, which is a real risk in coastal homes and laundry rooms.
Oxford’s Stabilicor® core is fully waterproof — standing water won’t damage the plank itself. Engineered hardwood also typically runs $8.99 or more installed, more than double Oxford’s price point. The trade-off is that Oxford can’t be sanded and refinished the way engineered hardwood can, and a wood purist will notice the difference up close. For most Fort Myers homeowners, Oxford’s durability and price wins the argument.
| Regency – Oxford | Engineered Hardwood | |
|---|---|---|
| Water resistance | Waterproof rigid core | Moisture-sensitive; can cup |
| Scratch resistance / wear layer | 20 mil ceramic-bead finish | Thin veneer; limited refinishes |
| Comfort underfoot | 8 mm with attached EVA pad | Slightly warmer feel; thicker options available |
| Installed price | $3.99 / sq ft | ~$8.99 / sq ft |
| Best room | Any room, including wet areas | Dry rooms; avoid bathrooms |
Sweep or vacuum Oxford regularly to keep sand and grit from acting as an abrasive on the ceramic-bead surface — avoid vacuums with a spinning beater bar set to hard-floor mode, as the aggressive agitation can scuff the finish over time. For damp mopping, use a well-wrung mop and a pH-neutral cleaner such as Bona Hard-Surface Floor Cleaner or a similar product formulated for vinyl or SPC. Avoid steam mops entirely: the sustained heat and pressure can compromise the locking joints and weaken the adhesive bond in the attached underlayment pad. Do not use wax-based polishes, oil soaps, or anything with ammonia or bleach, as these can cloud or break down the wear layer. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.
The Stabilicor® rigid core in Oxford is genuinely waterproof — standing water won’t swell, warp, or delaminate the plank itself. The practical limit is the seams and subfloor beneath: if water pools long enough to migrate down through the joints, your subfloor can still be affected. Wipe up spills promptly and you’ll have no issues.
Oxford’s 20 mil wear layer is one of the thicker options in the SPC category, which means pet nails won’t easily scratch through to the print layer beneath. Accidents clean up with a damp cloth since the core is waterproof. It’s not scratch-proof under extreme abuse, but it handles active pets better than hardwood or standard LVP.
Oxford’s Stabilicor® rigid core is specifically engineered for dimensional stability through humidity and temperature cycling, which makes it a reliable choice for seasonal homes. Unlike solid wood or even some engineered products, it won’t gap significantly when the AC is off in summer or heave when you turn it back on in the fall.
A single room typically takes one day; a whole-home installation of 1,000–1,500 square feet usually runs two to three days depending on layout complexity and subfloor condition. Oxford’s angle/angle click-lock system is straightforward for experienced installers, so Flooring Queen can generally give you a firm schedule at the time of your measure appointment.
Oxford includes an attached 2 mm green EVA pad — no separate underlayment purchase needed. That built-in layer softens the feel underfoot on hard concrete slabs, reduces the hollow sound that thin planks can produce, and provides a small measure of thermal insulation between your floor and the slab below.
Happy Feet’s Regency collection carries a manufacturer’s warranty typical for commercial-grade SPC products, covering manufacturing defects and wear-through of the surface layer under normal residential use. Specific term lengths should be confirmed with your Flooring Queen consultant at the time of purchase, as warranty registration and coverage details can vary. Keep your purchase receipt — it’s required for any claim.
