Urban Design 12 – Del Mar SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a taupe-toned glue-down vinyl from Happy Feet’s Urban Design 12™ collection. Del Mar reads as a warm, grounded neutral with the understated look of a modern concrete or wood-tone plank. It’s a practical, good-looking floor that suits the way Southwest Florida homes actually live.
Del Mar is built for homes sitting on concrete slab foundations, which describes the majority of houses in Lee and Collier counties. At 2mm with a rigid white vinyl core, it installs directly over slab without the dimensional instability that plagues wood-based products in high humidity. The glue-down method means zero float movement — nothing shifts or telegraphs the hollow-click sound under foot traffic.
For seasonal homes, rentals, or coastal properties where salt air and sandy foot traffic are facts of daily life, this is a sensible call. The 12 mil wear layer resists the kind of surface abuse that accumulates in high-turnover situations, and the fully waterproof core means a forgotten open window during a summer rainstorm isn’t a flooring emergency.

Flooring Queen installs Del Mar at $3.99 per square foot, and that price covers the full scope of a standard job: delivery to your home, removal and disposal of your existing floor covering, surface prep for a clean and level glue bed, the plank installation itself, new baseboard, and transition strips at doorways and thresholds. There are no hidden labor line items for a straightforward slab install.
Some situations do carry upcharges — significant low spots or high spots in the concrete that require self-leveling compound, stair nosings, or any decorative border work. Contact Flooring Queen for a no-cost in-home measurement and a written quote that spells out exactly what your project will cost before any work begins.
Del Mar and porcelain tile occupy different ends of the flooring spectrum, and both have legitimate claims on Southwest Florida kitchens and living areas. Porcelain is harder, completely impervious to water at the surface level, and carries strong resale signal with local buyers — but it installs at roughly $8.99 per square foot, feels cold underfoot, and cracks under point loads or slab movement. Grout lines also require periodic sealing and collect grime in high-traffic areas.
Del Mar costs less than half as much installed, is warmer and quieter underfoot, and has no grout to maintain. It won’t chip or crack from dropped items the way tile does. Where porcelain wins is longevity (decades with proper care) and perceived value at resale. Del Mar is the stronger choice for rentals and whole-home installs where budget is a real constraint.

Sweep or dust-mop Del Mar daily in sandy, high-traffic areas — grit left on the surface acts like sandpaper under foot traffic over time. Damp-mop with a pH-neutral cleaner such as Bona Hard-Surface Floor Cleaner or a diluted Simple Green solution; avoid anything acidic or solvent-based, and never use a steam mop on glue-down SPC — the heat and moisture can soften the adhesive bond beneath the planks. A standard microfiber mop is all you need for routine cleaning. No sealing, waxing, or refinishing is required at any point. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.
Del Mar has a 100% virgin vinyl rigid core that does not swell, warp, or delaminate when exposed to standing water. The waterproof claim is real at the plank level. The one caveat: if water migrates beneath the glue-down installation over a long period, it can affect the adhesive bond rather than the plank itself.
The 12 mil wear layer gives Del Mar solid everyday scratch resistance for most dogs, though large breeds with long nails will eventually show light surface marks under repeated use. Cleanup of pet accidents is straightforward — the waterproof core means urine won’t penetrate the plank, so a quick wipe prevents any lasting damage or odor absorption.
SPC — stone plastic composite — has a rigid mineral-filled core, while traditional LVP uses a softer, more flexible PVC core. Del Mar is SPC, which means it’s denser, less prone to denting under furniture, and more dimensionally stable under temperature swings. The trade-off is that SPC transmits a slightly harder feel underfoot compared to thicker, cushioned LVP products.
Quality SPC vinyl plank is broadly acceptable to SWFL buyers and appraisers — it’s become the regional standard in rentals and mid-range homes. It won’t add premium value the way large-format porcelain or wide-plank wood can, but fresh, well-installed vinyl is far better at resale than worn carpet or dated tile. Buyers here understand the practical case for waterproof flooring.
Del Mar works well in living rooms, dining areas, hallways, bedrooms, and open-plan spaces on a concrete slab. The glue-down method makes it a particularly stable choice for kitchens with heavy appliances. It’s rated for ground-level and on-grade installs; because it’s a direct-glue product with no locking system, it’s not suitable for situations where floating installation is required, such as over radiant heat systems.
A single average room typically takes one day once the adhesive setup is factored in. A whole-home install spanning 1,000 to 1,500 square feet generally runs two to three days. Glue-down SPC requires adhesive open and cure time between phases, so the timeline is slightly longer than a floating-floor project of the same square footage. Flooring Queen will confirm the exact schedule when they measure your space.
