Del Mar has a 100% virgin vinyl rigid core that does not swell, warp, or delaminate when exposed to standing water. The waterproof claim is real at the plank level. SPC — stone plastic composite — has a rigid mineral-filled core, while traditional LVP uses a softer, more flexible PVC core. Del Mar is SPC, which means it’s denser, less prone to denting under furniture, and more dimensionally stable under temperature swings. The trade-off is that SPC transmits a slightly harder feel underfoot compared to thicker, cushioned LVP products.
Quality SPC vinyl plank is broadly acceptable to SWFL buyers and appraisers — it’s become the regional standard in rentals and mid-range homes.
