Urban Design 20 – Vancouver SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a cool gray floor built for homes that need real durability without sacrificing a clean, modern look. It comes from Happy Feet’s Urban Design 20 collection, a glue-down SPC line designed for commercial-grade performance in residential spaces. The Vancouver colorway stays solidly in the gray family, pairing well with both warm and cool interior palettes.
Southwest Florida homes put flooring through a lot: slab-on-grade construction, humidity that climbs year-round, salt air near the coast, and the constant in-and-out traffic of sandy floors. Vancouver’s 100% virgin vinyl white core holds its shape in these conditions without the swelling or warping that affects wood-based products. Glue-down installation keeps the plank locked flat against concrete — no floating edge movement, no hollow spots over time.
The 20 mil wear layer is thick enough for households with kids, dogs, or short-term rental turnover. Seasonal and snowbird owners also benefit: a glue-down SPC doesn’t shift or gap during the months a home sits closed with the AC at minimum.

Flooring Queen installs Urban Design 20 – Vancouver at $3.99 per square foot, and that number covers the full job — delivery to your home, removal of your current flooring, standard subfloor cleaning and prep, the installation itself, new baseboards, and transition strips between rooms. Debris removal is included; you won’t be left managing a pile of old material.
Certain conditions add to the base price. Significant low spots or high spots in the concrete slab require leveling compound, which is quoted separately once we assess the floor. Custom inlays, borders, or diagonal layouts also carry an upcharge. Call us or schedule a no-cost in-home measure — we’ll produce a written line-item quote before any work begins.
Porcelain tile and SPC rigid-core plank are both genuinely waterproof and work well over concrete slabs, which is why Fort Myers homeowners often compare them. Porcelain wins on heat tolerance and longevity — a well-installed tile floor can outlast the house. It also adds more resale weight in certain markets.
Where Vancouver pulls ahead: it’s warmer underfoot (no cold-tile feel in the morning), significantly quieter, and faster to install. Grout lines in porcelain collect dirt and require periodic sealing; Vancouver has none. At $3.99 installed versus roughly $8.99 for porcelain, the cost difference is substantial. For anyone prioritizing comfort, budget, and low maintenance over maximum hardness, the SPC is the practical choice.
| Urban Design 20 – Vancouver | Porcelain Tile | |

| Comfort underfoot | Slightly cushioned, warmer feel | Hard and cold without radiant heat |
| Installed price | $3.99 / sq ft | ~$8.99 / sq ft |
| Best room | Any grade, any room including rentals | Kitchen, bath, high-traffic — any room |
Sweep or vacuum on a hard-floor setting — avoid beater-bar attachments, which can scuff the wear layer over time. For routine cleaning, a damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner like Bona Hard-Surface Floor Cleaner works well; avoid vinegar, bleach-based products, or anything acidic. Never use a steam mop on this floor — the heat and pressure can soften the adhesive bond and cause planks to lift at the edges. Wipe up standing water from spills promptly even though the core is waterproof, to prevent moisture from working under the perimeter edges. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.
The Urban Design 20 – Vancouver plank is built on a 100% virgin vinyl core that does not absorb water, making it waterproof through the full thickness of the plank. That said, sustained pooling at seams or along walls can eventually work beneath the glue bond, so wiping up large spills promptly is still good practice.
The 20 mil wear layer on Vancouver is thick enough to hold up to normal pet traffic without showing daily scratch marks. It won’t be impervious to a large dog dragging furniture, but routine claw contact from medium to large dogs shouldn’t visibly damage the finish. Cleanup from accidents is simple — the core won’t absorb liquid.
SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) has a rigid mineral-filled core, while traditional LVP uses a softer flexible vinyl construction. Vancouver is SPC, which means it resists denting under heavy furniture, stays flat over uneven subfloors, and doesn’t expand and contract as dramatically with temperature swings — a real advantage in Florida homes that run between AC-cooled and hot.
A 7-inch width reads as a wide plank, which makes rooms feel broader and reduces the number of seams across the floor. The 48-inch length keeps proportions balanced without looking oversized. In open-concept layouts common in Fort Myers homes, this size works particularly well — it gives a clean, architectural feel without requiring tricky cuts around frequent obstacles.
No — Urban Design 20 – Vancouver does not include an attached underlayment pad; it’s a glue-down product bonded directly to the subfloor. This means sound absorption and underfoot cushion are more limited than with a floating floor that has foam backing. Area rugs in seating zones can help with both comfort and acoustics if that matters to you.
Vancouver is a strong candidate for any room on or above a concrete slab — living areas, kitchens, baths, and bedrooms all work well. The glue-down method is actually preferred in below-grade spaces like Florida finished slabs because it eliminates movement. The one area to think through is stairs, where glue-down plank requires stair nosing pieces priced separately from the base install.
