Denali Engineered Hardwood starts at $8.99/sq ft installed in Fort Myers — a wide-plank Oak floor in a clean natural tone that brings the warmth of real wood to homes across Southwest Florida. Part of LW Flooring’s Montclair collection, Denali pairs an embossed-in-register texture with painted beveled edges for a look that reads as genuine hardwood from the moment you walk in.
At 14mm thick with a 9-3/8″ plank width, Denali is built for the spaces where you spend the most time — open living areas, dining rooms, and primary bedrooms. The click-lock floating system is well suited to Southwest Florida’s concrete slab foundations, where direct glue-down isn’t always practical.
The aluminum oxide finish and AC4 wear layer hold up against the kind of everyday friction that coastal life brings: sandy footprints tracked in from the beach, high ambient humidity, and the foot traffic of a home that doesn’t sit idle. A lifetime residential warranty backs that durability claim.

Flooring Queen installs Denali at $8.99 per square foot, and that price covers the full scope of a standard project: material delivery, removal of your current flooring, floor prep within normal tolerances, installation, baseboard reinstallation, and transition strips between rooms. Debris is cleared from the job site when the crew leaves.
Some conditions add to the base price. Significant subfloor leveling — common in older Fort Myers homes — is quoted separately, as are stair nosing pieces, decorative inlays, or any layout that requires cutting around complex angles. Schedule a free in-home measure and you’ll receive a written quote with line-item pricing before any work begins.
Denali gives you real Oak on the surface — the same species, same finish, same texture — but its engineered construction makes it a more practical choice for Southwest Florida than solid hardwood. A solid plank expands and contracts more dramatically with humidity swings, which is a real concern in a coastal climate where interior moisture levels shift seasonally. Denali’s layered core is dimensionally more stable.
Where solid hardwood wins: it can typically be sanded and refinished more times over its life, which matters if you plan to stay in the home for 30-plus years. Denali can be lightly refinished, but the wear layer is thinner than a solid plank. If longevity through multiple refurbishments is the priority, solid hardwood is worth the higher installed cost and tighter moisture-control requirements.
| Denali | Solid Hardwood | |
|---|---|---|
| Water resistance | Moderate — engineered core more stable | Low — swells with humidity changes |
| Scratch resistance / wear layer | AC4 aluminum oxide finish | Varies — depends on finish, no rating system |
| Comfort underfoot | Warm, real wood feel | Warm, real wood feel |
| Installed price | $8.99/sq ft installed | Typically $10–$14/sq ft installed |
| Best room | Living areas, bedrooms, main floor | Bedrooms, low-humidity main floor only |
Sweep or vacuum Denali regularly — grit and sand are the primary enemies of any aluminum oxide finish, and Southwest Florida homes bring in plenty of both. For damp mopping, use a hardwood-specific cleaner such as Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner or a comparable pH-neutral formula; avoid steam mops entirely, as prolonged heat and moisture can work into the seams of a floating floor and compromise the core over time. Never use oil soaps, ammonia-based cleaners, or wax products on this finish — they leave residue that dulls the surface and can void the warranty. A felt pad under furniture legs prevents point-load scratches that the wear layer won’t fully resist. For technical guidance, see the National Wood Flooring Association consumer hardwood information.
Engineered hardwood should acclimate inside your home for at least 48 to 72 hours before installation. In Southwest Florida’s humidity, this step is especially important — the planks need to reach equilibrium with your interior climate so the floor doesn’t shift or gap after the job is done. Keep your AC running at normal living temperature during acclimation.
Denali carries an AC4-rated aluminum oxide finish, which means light screening and recoating is possible, but the wear layer is thinner than a solid hardwood plank, so full sanding refinishes are limited — likely once, depending on how much material is removed. If you expect to refinish heavily over decades, discuss that goal with us before committing.
The click-lock floating system does allow installation over hard, stable substrates in many cases, but it depends on height clearance at doors and transitions, and whether the existing surface is flat within acceptable tolerances. Our crew checks all of that during the site measure — a high spot or loose tile can disqualify the overlay approach quickly.
Real-wood flooring — including quality engineered hardwood — generally shows well to buyers in the Southwest Florida market and is viewed more favorably than carpet or older vinyl. It won’t guarantee a higher appraisal, but it rarely hurts and often shortens time on market. Neutral tones like Denali’s natural Oak tend to photograph well and appeal broadly.
Floating engineered floors handle seasonal vacancy better than solid hardwood, but they still need a stable indoor environment. Set your thermostat to hold between 65–80°F and keep humidity between 35–55% while the home is unoccupied. Extreme temperature swings in a closed, unconditioned home can stress the locking joints over multiple seasons.
The AC4 wear layer provides solid scratch resistance for everyday pet movement, though large dogs with untrimmed nails will eventually leave marks on any hardwood surface. For spills and accidents, clean them up promptly — engineered hardwood tolerates brief moisture contact but is not waterproof, and standing liquid can work into seams if left too long.
When you invest in hardwood, the install matters as much as the wood. Flooring Queen is licensed, insured, and family-run from a single Fort Myers showroom — no franchise, no national-chain shuffle. Free in-home measure: (239) 763-0770.
