Specifications

Capri Engineered Hardwood starts at $8.99/sq ft installed in Fort Myers — a wirebrushed European White Oak floor in a natural tone that suits the relaxed, coastal aesthetic Southwest Florida homeowners keep coming back to. From LW Flooring’s Renaissance collection, Capri carries a high-variation grain pattern and micro-beveled edges that give each plank an authentic, hand-crafted character without the upkeep of raw wood.

What Capri Engineered Hardwood is built for

At 9/16″ thick with a 3 mm European White Oak wear layer, Capri is built to handle the demands of active households in Southwest Florida. The wirebrushed finish resists surface scratches and hides the fine dust and sand that work their way into coastal homes. With three approved installation methods — float, glue, or nail-down — it adapts to the concrete slab foundations common throughout the Fort Myers area, where moisture management and a stable subfloor bond matter most.

The 7-1/2″ wide planks and high-variation grain also make Capri a practical choice for vacation rentals and snowbird properties. The natural color reads as warm rather than stark, so it holds up visually across seasons and different furnishing styles.

Installed pricing in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida

Flooring Queen installs Capri at $8.99 per square foot, and that price covers the full scope of a standard project: material delivery, removal and disposal of your current flooring, surface preparation for a typical slab or plywood subfloor, installation, baseboards, and transition strips where needed. There are no hidden labor charges for a straightforward layout.

Certain situations do carry additional cost — significant subfloor leveling, stair nosing, diagonal or herringbone patterns, and custom border work are all quoted separately. To get an accurate number for your space, Flooring Queen offers a free in-home measurement and a written project quote before any work begins.

How Capri Engineered Hardwood compares

Shoppers comparing Capri to solid hardwood are usually weighing authenticity against practicality. Solid hardwood is thicker and can be sanded and refinished more times over a floor’s life — a genuine long-term advantage. But solid wood expands and contracts significantly with humidity, which makes it a poor fit for Southwest Florida’s climate, and it cannot be glued or floated over a concrete slab without serious risk of cupping or gapping.

Capri’s engineered construction — a real oak veneer bonded over a layered core — provides dimensional stability in humid conditions and works with all three installation methods common to slab-built homes. The 3 mm wear layer still allows at least one careful resanding if the floor ever needs it. For most Fort Myers homeowners, engineered is simply the more sensible choice.

Care & maintenance

Sweep or vacuum Capri weekly using a soft-brush attachment — skip the beater bar, which can scuff the wirebrushed finish over time. For damp mopping, use a hardwood-specific cleaner such as Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner or WOCA Wood Floor Cleaner; wring the mop nearly dry before it touches the floor, since standing water can penetrate the seams and reach the core. Avoid steam mops entirely — the heat and moisture can cause the veneer to swell or delaminate at the edges. Acidic or ammonia-based household cleaners will dull the polyurethane aluminum oxide finish and are not recommended. Frequently asked questions

How much time does Capri need to sit in my home before your crew installs it?

Capri should acclimate inside your home for at least 48 to 72 hours before installation. In Southwest Florida’s high-humidity environment, this step is especially important — the planks need to reach equilibrium with your interior conditions so the wood doesn’t expand or contract after the floor is laid.

With a 3 mm wear layer, is there room to sand and refinish this floor down the road?

Yes — Capri’s 3 mm European White Oak wear layer is thick enough to allow at least one careful screen-and-recoat or light resanding if the floor develops significant scratches or wear over the years. That’s a meaningful advantage over thinner engineered products, though it can’t be refinished as many times as solid hardwood.

What makes engineered hardwood a better fit for a concrete slab home than solid wood?

Engineered hardwood’s layered core resists the expansion and contraction that humidity causes in solid wood, making it far more stable over a concrete slab. Solid hardwood cannot be safely glued or floated over slab without high risk of cupping. Capri’s construction, combined with its glue-down or float options, makes it a practical choice for most Fort Myers and Southwest Florida builds.

We leave our Fort Myers home empty for months at a time — will this floor hold up during the off-season?

Capri handles seasonal vacancy well as long as the home’s HVAC or a dehumidifier keeps interior humidity in a reasonable range — typically 35–55% RH. Without climate control, the humidity swings common in Southwest Florida summers can cause the planks to swell or gap. A programmed thermostat set around 78–80°F with humidity management is the standard recommendation for snowbird homes.

Can Capri go directly over my old tile or vinyl, or does that have to come up first?

It depends on what’s underneath and how level it is. Capri can float or glue over a stable, flat existing floor in some cases, but high spots, loose tiles, or height transitions at doorways often require removal first. Our team assesses the existing surface during the in-home measurement and will tell you upfront what prep is needed before the quote is finalized.

What does LW Flooring’s warranty actually cover on this product?

Capri carries a lifetime residential warranty and a 5-year light commercial warranty from LW Flooring. The residential warranty covers manufacturing defects for the life of the floor in your home. Light commercial applications — such as a home office or small rental — are covered for five years. Review LW Flooring’s warranty documentation for full terms, including exclusions for improper installation or maintenance.
