Specifications

Jenne Engineered Hardwood starts at $8.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a wirebrushed European White Oak in warm taupe that reads as genuinely lived-in rather than factory-fresh. LW Flooring’s Renaissance collection pairs a 7-1/2″ wide plank with a micro-beveled edge so each board reads as its own piece. The result is a floor with real visual depth without requiring solid wood.

What Jenne Engineered Hardwood is built for

Southwest Florida’s humidity swings are real, and Jenne’s engineered construction handles them better than solid oak would. The 9/16″ thickness sits stably over concrete slabs — the default foundation in most Fort Myers and Cape Coral homes — and the three installation options (float, glue, or nail) give your installer flexibility based on what’s underneath.

The polyurethane finish with aluminum oxide provides day-to-day surface hardness for active households. The lifetime residential warranty backs normal living room, bedroom, and dining room use. This isn’t the right call for bathrooms or laundry rooms where standing water is likely, but for the main living areas of a full-time or seasonal home, it’s well-matched to the conditions here.

Installed pricing in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida

Flooring Queen installs Jenne at $8.99 per square foot, and that price covers the full scope of a standard job: delivery to your home, removal of your existing floor covering, floor preparation for a clean substrate, installation of the planks, baseboards, and transition strips between rooms, plus debris removal when we’re done.

Some situations add cost. Heavy subfloor leveling — common in older slabs with significant dips — is an upcharge, as are stair nosings, herringbone or custom-pattern layouts, and decorative borders. Call us or schedule a free in-home measurement and we’ll put together a written quote specific to your rooms before any work begins.

How Jenne Engineered Hardwood compares

Shoppers drawn to European White Oak often ask whether to go engineered or solid. Solid hardwood is a single piece of wood all the way through, which means it can be sanded and refinished more times over its life — a real advantage in a home that holds for 40-plus years. But solid oak is more sensitive to humidity and concrete, two things that define most Southwest Florida homes. Engineered construction with a quality core is simply more stable in our climate and works directly over slab.

Jenne’s 3 mm wear layer does allow light refinishing, but not as many passes as a 3/4″ solid plank. Where Jenne wins: installation flexibility, slab compatibility, and similar visual character at a comparable price point.

Jenne Solid Hardwood
Water resistance Moisture-stable over concrete slab Susceptible to humidity swings, no slab installs
Scratch resistance / wear layer 3 mm wear layer, aluminum oxide finish Full depth — more refinish passes possible
Comfort underfoot Warm, solid wood feel Identical — same species, same feel
Installed price $8.99/sq ft installed Typically $10–$14/sq ft installed
Best room Main living areas, bedrooms, slab construction Upper floors, wood-frame subfloors only

Care & maintenance

Sweep or vacuum Jenne regularly — fine grit tracked in from Southwest Florida driveways is the number-one cause of finish wear over time. Use a hardwood-specific cleaner like Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner or WOCA Wood Floor Cleaner applied with a barely-damp mop; never let water pool on the surface or seep into the micro-beveled edges. Avoid steam mops entirely, and skip any acidic or oil-soap-based products that can dull the polyurethane finish. For the micro-beveled seams, a dry microfiber pad picks up debris without pushing moisture into the joint. Frequently asked questions

How long does Jenne need to sit in my house before the crew can start installing it?

LW Flooring recommends acclimating Jenne for a minimum of 72 hours inside your home before installation begins. In Southwest Florida, where indoor humidity can spike after summer storms or air conditioning cycling, giving the planks time to reach equilibrium with your specific space helps prevent gapping or cupping after install. Keep the HVAC running at normal levels during this period.

Can this floor be sanded down and refinished if it gets scratched up over the years?

Yes, Jenne can be lightly refinished — the 3 mm wear layer is thick enough to allow one or two careful sandings over the floor’s life. That’s fewer passes than a solid hardwood plank, so refinishing should be reserved for significant wear rather than minor surface scratches. Screen-and-recoat is a gentler option that can extend the finish without removing much material.

Where in the house does this floor work well, and are there spots I should avoid putting it?

Jenne is well-suited for living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, and hallways — essentially any above-grade or on-grade dry area. It can float, glue, or nail down, making it compatible with slab installs common across Fort Myers. Skip it in full bathrooms, laundry rooms, or any space where water regularly reaches the floor, as standing moisture will damage the wood core over time.

Can this go directly on top of my old tile, or does the existing floor have to come up first?

In many cases, Jenne can be floated over existing hard surfaces like tile, but the success depends on the condition and height of what’s already there. Loose, cracked, or uneven tile should come up first, and height transitions to adjacent rooms have to be manageable. During the in-home measure, our installer will assess the existing surface and tell you exactly what prep is needed.

Does putting in engineered hardwood actually make a home easier to sell here in Southwest Florida?

Real hardwood species — engineered or solid — consistently test well with buyers and appraisers in the Fort Myers market. European White Oak in particular reads as a quality finish rather than a builder-grade choice. That said, buyers in coastal or flood-zone properties sometimes prioritize waterproof flooring, so Jenne’s strongest resale story is in non-flood-zone neighborhoods and upper-end price points where hardwood is expected.

We have two dogs — will this floor hold up, and how easy is it to clean after muddy paws?

The aluminum oxide-reinforced polyurethane finish on Jenne adds meaningful scratch resistance for pet households, though no wood floor is immune to claws from larger or more active dogs. The 3 mm wear layer gives you surface to work with if light scratches accumulate over time. For cleanup, a slightly damp microfiber mop with a hardwood cleaner handles paw prints quickly — just avoid letting wet messes sit in the micro-beveled seams.
