Specifications

Pissarro Engineered Hardwood starts at $8.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a wide-plank European White Oak floor with a wirebrushed texture and natural coloring that reads warm and lived-in without trying too hard. It comes from LW Flooring’s French Impressions collection, a line built around the relaxed character of old-world oak. The micro-beveled edges and high-variation grain make every room feel genuinely individual.

What Pissarro Engineered Hardwood is built for

At 7 inches wide and up to 71 inches long, these planks are built for open living areas, primary bedrooms, and dining rooms where the full width of the board can breathe. The wirebrushed finish hides the fine scratches and scuffs that come with daily life — useful whether you’re a full-time resident with pets or a snowbird who returns each winter to a floor that’s been sitting.

The glue-down and nail-down installation methods make Pissarro a practical fit for Southwest Florida’s concrete slab construction. A proper glue-down application reduces movement in the humidity swings that come with our wet and dry seasons, and the engineered construction handles the moisture vapor that rises through coastal slab floors far better than solid wood would.

Installed pricing in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida

Flooring Queen installs Pissarro at $8.99 per square foot, a price that covers more than just the planks. Included in that number: delivery to your home, removal and disposal of your old flooring, floor prep within normal tolerances, the installation itself, baseboard reattachment, and transition strips between rooms.

A few situations do carry additional cost — significant subfloor leveling, stair nosing, custom inlay borders, or diagonal layouts all take extra time and materials. The best way to get an accurate number for your specific home is to schedule a free in-home measure. Flooring Queen will walk the rooms with you and put a written quote in your hands before any work begins.

How Pissarro Engineered Hardwood compares

Shoppers who want real wood often ask whether to go engineered or solid. Solid hardwood is one continuous board — which means it can be sanded and refinished more times over its life, and some buyers associate it with higher-end construction. The trade-off is real, though: solid oak expands and contracts more aggressively with humidity, and it should not be glued directly to a concrete slab — which is exactly what most Southwest Florida homes have.

Pissarro’s engineered construction uses a layered core that stays more dimensionally stable across SWFL’s wet season. The 1.2 mm wear layer allows a light refinish if the floor ever needs it, though it won’t tolerate as many passes as a thick solid board. For slab homes within a few miles of the coast, engineered is generally the safer choice.

Care & maintenance

Sweep or dust-mop Pissarro regularly — the wirebrushed texture can collect fine sand and grit that, left underfoot, acts like sandpaper on the finish over time. For wet cleaning, use a hardwood-specific cleaner such as Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner or WOCA Wood Floor Soap applied with a well-wrung mop; standing water on the surface should always be wiped up promptly. Avoid steam mops, vinegar-based cleaners, and anything acidic — they break down the polyurethane finish faster than normal wear would. Felt pads under furniture legs are a simple way to protect the floor long-term. For technical guidance, see the National Wood Flooring Association consumer hardwood information.

Frequently asked questions

How long does Pissarro need to sit in my house before installation starts?

Engineered hardwood should acclimate for at least 48 to 72 hours inside your home before installation. In Southwest Florida’s humidity, this step matters — the planks need to adjust to the moisture level in the room where they’ll live. Keep them flat, in their boxes, with the HVAC running at your normal household settings.

With only a 1.2 mm wear layer, is there any point in refinishing this floor?

Pissarro can support one light screen-and-recoat refinish, but its 1.2 mm wear layer is thin enough that deep sanding isn’t recommended. A careful surface buff to refresh the finish is realistic; a full sand-down to remove deep gouges is not. If keeping a refinish-capable floor long-term is a priority, a thicker wear layer or solid hardwood may be a better fit.

Can Pissarro go directly over my old tile, or does that have to come up first?

Whether Pissarro can install over existing tile or vinyl depends on the height and condition of what’s there — and on which installation method is used. Pissarro installs via glue-down or nail-down, so a flat, stable, well-bonded substrate is required. Loose or cracked tile, height transitions at doorways, and surface variation all need to be assessed before a decision is made.

What happens if my dog knocks over a water bowl and it sits for a while — will this floor be okay?

Pissarro is not waterproof. The finish resists surface moisture for a short time, but prolonged standing water can work its way into the seams and cause the wood core to swell or warp. Wipe spills promptly and address any leaks right away. For rooms with a high risk of regular water exposure — laundry rooms, bathrooms — a waterproof SPC or LVP product is a more appropriate choice.

Does putting real wood floors in a SWFL home actually pay off at resale?

Real wood floors — including engineered hardwood — are consistently viewed favorably by buyers in the Southwest Florida market. They tend to photograph well and stand out in listings. That said, they’re not a guaranteed dollar-for-dollar return; condition matters as much as material. A well-maintained Pissarro floor is an asset; a worn or water-damaged one can raise questions during inspection.
