Cello Waterproof Laminate starts at $4.50 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a cool light-gray floor from CPF Floors’ Inspire Black Edition collection that reads clean and contemporary in any room. Its 8-by-48-inch planks give it the proportions of real hardwood without the upkeep. Flooring Queen carries and installs it throughout Southwest Florida.
Cello was built for the way Southwest Florida homes actually live. The 6mm Black HD core shrugs off the humidity that swings hard here year-round, and the 1mm EVA pad underneath cushions the plank against the concrete slabs that sit below most homes in the region. Salt air near the coast won’t compromise it, and the AC 5 wear rating means it holds up through the traffic that comes with seasonal rentals and snowbird turnovers.
It suits main living areas, kitchens, hallways, and home offices particularly well — spaces that need a floor that looks composed under heavy daily use without demanding a lot in return.

At $4.50 per square foot installed, Flooring Queen’s price covers the full scope of a standard job: pulling up your existing flooring and clearing it off-site, routine subfloor preparation, the installation itself using the angle-angle method the product requires, and finishing the space with baseboards and transition strips.
Some projects run higher. Significant subfloor leveling, stair nosing, or any layout that involves custom angles or borders will show up as a line-item on your written quote. The measure is free — one of our estimators comes to your home, takes accurate square footage, and hands you a firm number before any work is scheduled.
The meaningful difference between Cello and a conventional laminate comes down to moisture tolerance. Standard laminate uses an HDF core that absorbs water at joints and swells — an ongoing risk in Southwest Florida’s humidity and in rooms where spills are routine. Cello’s Black HD core is engineered to resist that penetration, making it a safer choice for kitchens and high-humidity areas where traditional laminate would underperform over time.
Where standard laminate can still have the edge: some options come in thicker profiles or offer a wider range of embossed surface textures. Cello’s AC 5 rating does outperform most standard laminate on the traffic scale, though, and the attached EVA pad is not always included in comparable conventional products.
| Cello | Standard Laminate | |
|---|---|---|
| Water resistance | Waterproof HD core | Water-resistant only; swells at joints |
| Scratch resistance / wear layer | AC 5 — heavy commercial rated | Typically AC 3 or AC 4 |
| Comfort underfoot | 1mm EVA pad attached | Pad often sold separately |
| Installed price | $4.50 / sq ft installed | $3.50–$4.00 / sq ft installed (varies) |
| Best room | Kitchen, living areas, rentals | Bedrooms, low-moisture spaces |
Sweep or vacuum on a hard-floor setting regularly — no beater bar — to keep grit from working into the surface. Damp-mop with a pH-neutral cleaner such as Bona Hard-Surface Floor Cleaner; wring the mop nearly dry before it contacts the floor. Avoid steam mops entirely: sustained heat and moisture can compromise the core and the locking joints over time. Steer clear of wax-based products, oil soaps, and anything acidic, as these can cloud the finish or degrade the wear layer. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.
Cello uses a waterproof HD core, meaning it resists water penetration at the plank level rather than simply slowing absorption the way standard laminate does. Pooled water left for extended periods should still be wiped up promptly, but routine spills, high humidity, and damp mopping won’t compromise the floor under normal use.
AC 5 is the highest traffic classification in the AC rating system, covering heavy commercial environments like retail stores and airports. In a residential setting it means the wear layer is built beyond what most homes will ever demand, which translates to a longer-lasting surface even in high-traffic areas like entryways, kitchens, and homes with pets or kids.
Most single-room installs wrap in one day. A whole-home project typically runs two to four days depending on square footage, layout complexity, and how much furniture relocation is involved. The angle-angle installation method Cello uses is straightforward and doesn’t add significant time, but your written quote will include a project-specific schedule.

Cello is well-suited for above-grade and on-grade installations, making it appropriate for most living spaces in a single-story Florida home. It is not recommended for below-grade spaces such as basements, though those are uncommon in Southwest Florida. Outdoor areas, unconditioned garages, and rooms without climate control are also outside its designed use.
Concrete slab is actually the most common subfloor in Southwest Florida, and Cello is designed with it in mind. The waterproof HD core handles the moisture vapor that concrete naturally emits, and the attached EVA pad provides a modest buffer between the slab and the plank surface. Standard subfloor prep is all that’s typically needed before installation.
Modern waterproof laminate is a different product than your parents’ kitchen floor — and we’ve installed enough of it to know which AC ratings hold up in rental properties and which don’t. Written installed quote from a Fort Myers crew you’ll meet in person: (239) 763-0770.
