Specifications

Prime X 7 In Antler Oak SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a honey-toned oak floor with warm, natural grain depth from TRUCOR’s PRIME X 7 collection. The wide 7-inch plank format and rolled edge give it an authentic hardwood profile without the moisture risk. It’s a practical, good-looking floor built around the realities of Southwest Florida homes.

What Prime X 7 In Antler Oak SPC Rigid-Core Plank is built for

At 12 mm thick with a rigid stone-plastic composite core, Antler Oak handles the humidity swings and concrete slab subfloors that are the norm across Southwest Florida. It installs above, on, or below grade, which matters in homes with varying floor levels — a common situation in Fort Myers-area construction.

The IXPE attached pad softens the feel on hard concrete and reduces ambient noise, a genuine benefit in tile-heavy homes with open floor plans. For snowbird households that sit unoccupied in summer heat and humidity, the dimensional stability of an SPC core means the floor won’t buckle or cup during those months.

Installed pricing in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida

Flooring Queen installs Prime X 7 in Antler Oak at $3.99 per square foot, and that price is genuinely all-in for most standard projects. It covers delivery, removal of your current floor covering, surface preparation for typical conditions, the floating installation itself, baseboard reinstallation, and transition moldings at doorways.

Extra costs apply when subfloors need significant leveling beyond routine prep, or for stair nosing, decorative borders, or unusually complex layouts. We offer a free in-home measurement and provide a written quote before any work begins — so the number you approve is the number you pay.

How Prime X 7 In Antler Oak SPC Rigid-Core Plank compares

Shoppers who want the look of real wood often land on engineered hardwood as an alternative to SPC vinyl. Engineered hardwood genuinely is real wood on top, and it can be refinished once or twice if the veneer is thick enough — that’s a real advantage if longevity and resale optics matter to you.

But in Southwest Florida, the moisture argument is hard to ignore. Engineered hardwood is water-resistant at best; sustained humidity, slab condensation, or a slow leak will cause swelling or delamination over time. Antler Oak’s SPC core is fully waterproof through the plank, installed at a lower price point, and requires no acclimation period. The trade-off is that vinyl can’t be refinished — once the wear layer is gone, you replace it.

Care & maintenance

Sweep or dust-mop Antler Oak regularly — fine sand and grit tracked in from outside are the most consistent source of surface wear on any vinyl floor. For cleaning, use a pH-neutral hard-surface cleaner such as Bona Hard-Surface Floor Cleaner or a diluted castile soap; avoid anything acidic, oil-based, or abrasive. Never use a steam mop on SPC flooring — the sustained heat can soften the IXPE pad layer and affect the locking joints over time. Wring mops nearly dry before use, and clean up spills promptly even though the core itself is waterproof. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.

Frequently asked questions

Will standing water actually damage this floor if something spills or leaks?

The SPC core in Antler Oak is fully waterproof — standing water on the surface or seeping through the seams won’t cause the plank itself to swell or buckle. That said, water that migrates under the floor and sits on the subfloor long-term is a subfloor problem, not a plank problem, and should still be addressed promptly.

We have two large dogs — how well does the wear layer hold up to claws and accidents?

The 20 mil wear layer on Antler Oak is a commercial-grade rating, which means it’s rated well above what most residential pet households produce in daily traffic. Claw marks are possible with very large dogs over time, but at this thickness you’re working with meaningful resistance. Pet messes clean up without staining because the surface is non-porous.

Does this come with a pad already attached, or do I need to buy underlayment separately?

Antler Oak ships with IXPE underlayment factory-attached to the back of each plank, so no separate underlayment purchase is needed. That built-in pad cushions the floor against the hardness of concrete slab, reduces the hollow-sounding footfall common with floating floors, and adds a slight thermal layer in air-conditioned rooms.

What’s the typical project timeline from start to finish on an install like this?

A single room typically takes one day; a whole home in the 1,200–1,800 sq ft range usually runs two to three days depending on layout complexity and how much furniture needs to move. The Valinge 2G click system installs quickly, and because no glue or nailing is involved, rooms are walkable the same day installation wraps.

Are there rooms in the house where this floor wouldn’t be a good fit?

Antler Oak is approved for installation above, on, and below grade, which covers virtually every room in a Southwest Florida home — including below-grade areas that are uncommon here but exist in some builds. It works in kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and living areas. The one honest limitation is that it can’t be installed as a glue-down in applications that specifically require adhesive attachment.

Can this go directly on top of my old tile floor, or does it have to come up first?

In many cases, Antler Oak can float directly over existing hard-surface flooring if that surface is flat, structurally sound, and the added height won’t create a trip hazard at transitions. The Valinge 2G floating click system doesn’t require removal of a stable substrate. During your free in-home measure, we’ll check existing floor height and flatness to confirm whether a direct overlay works for your specific situation.
