Specifications

Prime In Needle Oak SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a natural-toned wood-look floor from TRUCOR’s Prime collection that reads like real oak without any of the maintenance headaches. The Needle Oak colorway sits in warm, earthy neutrals, and the micro-bevel edge adds just enough depth to make each 7″ × 60″ plank feel distinct. It’s a grounded, versatile look that works as well in open living spaces as it does in busy hallways.

What Prime In Needle Oak SPC Rigid-Core Plank is built for

Southwest Florida homes put floors through a specific kind of stress: concrete slabs that stay cool and damp, salt-laden air near the coast, and humidity swings that expand and warp traditional wood. TRUCOR Prime’s rigid stone-polymer core doesn’t flex or buckle under those conditions, and the IXPE attached pad cushions the temperature differential between the slab and the plank surface.

The 20 mil wear layer and TRUWEAR finish also make this a practical choice for rental properties, short-term vacation units, and snowbird homes that sit unoccupied for months at a stretch — the floor holds up whether it’s seeing daily foot traffic or none at all.

Installed pricing in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida

Flooring Queen installs Prime in Needle Oak at $3.99 per square foot, and that price covers the full scope of a standard project: delivery to your home, removal and disposal of the existing floor covering, routine subfloor preparation, full installation, new baseboards, and transition strips between rooms.

Certain situations carry an upcharge — heavy floor-leveling compounds for out-of-plane slabs, stair nosing installation, or complex room geometries with custom cut patterns. To get an accurate number for your specific space, we offer a free in-home measurement and a written quote before any work is scheduled.

How Prime In Needle Oak SPC Rigid-Core Plank compares

Engineered hardwood is the natural comparison for anyone drawn to the Needle Oak look — it uses a real wood veneer, so the grain and color depth are genuinely different from any printed film. Where engineered hardwood wins: tactile authenticity and the possibility of a light resand on some products. Where TRUCOR Prime wins: the SPC core is fully waterproof at the subfloor level, not just surface-resistant, which matters a great deal on concrete slabs in humid coastal climates. Engineered hardwood also requires more precise subfloor flatness and can’t go below grade without moisture mitigation. At $3.99 installed versus roughly $8.99 for engineered hardwood, the cost difference is significant — and TRUCOR Prime’s 20 mil wear layer outlasts the thin veneer on most mid-grade engineered products.

Care & maintenance

Sweep or vacuum on the hard-floor setting — avoid a beater-bar attachment, which can scuff the wear layer over time. For damp mopping, use a pH-neutral cleaner formulated for vinyl or SPC floors; brands like Bona Hard-Surface Floor Cleaner or Black Diamond Wood & Laminate work well. Never use a steam mop: sustained heat and pressure can compromise the locking joints and warp the planks. Skip vinegar, ammonia-based sprays, or abrasive scrubbers — they dull the TRUWEAR finish without providing any cleaning benefit over a proper neutral cleaner. Frequently asked questions

Will standing water actually damage this floor, or just the surface?

The SPC rigid core in TRUCOR Prime is fully waterproof — standing water on the surface won’t damage the plank itself. The practical risk is water that migrates through seams and sits under the floor for extended periods, which can affect the subfloor below, not the plank. Wipe up spills promptly and ensure baseboards are sealed at the wall.

My dogs are rough on floors — will the wear layer hold up to claws?

The 20 mil wear layer is thick enough to resist normal pet claw scratching from most dog breeds under everyday use. It won’t show the fine surface scratches that a thinner 6 or 8 mil product would. Cleanup of accidents is straightforward — the waterproof core means urine won’t soak through if wiped up within a reasonable time.

We’re only here six months a year — how does this floor handle sitting empty and closed up?

TRUCOR Prime handles seasonal vacancy well. The rigid SPC core is dimensionally stable through temperature and humidity cycling, so the floor won’t gap or buckle when the AC is set back during summer months. It’s a better choice for snowbird homes than solid hardwood or standard laminate, both of which are sensitive to prolonged humidity swings.

Does this come with padding already attached, or do I need to buy underlayment separately?

TRUCOR Prime in Needle Oak comes with an IXPE pad pre-attached to the back of each plank — no separate underlayment purchase is needed for most installations. The IXPE layer adds cushion underfoot and helps absorb minor subfloor irregularities, which also reduces hollow footfall sound compared to bare SPC without a pad.

Those are long planks — does the 7″ × 60″ size make installation harder in smaller rooms?

The 7-inch width and 60-inch length give smaller rooms a more open, less busy appearance by reducing the number of end joints visible at once. Installation in tight spaces does require more careful planning of cut pieces, but the Valinge 2G/5Gi locking system makes precise fitting straightforward. In larger rooms, the plank size genuinely pays off visually.

Which rooms in the house are the best fit, and are there any places I shouldn’t install it?

TRUCOR Prime can be installed above, on, or below grade, which means it works in living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, and even below-grade bonus rooms on concrete slabs — all common configurations in Southwest Florida homes. The floating install method isn’t ideal for spaces that will receive heavy fixed cabinetry placed directly on the floor, but for general residential use, virtually any room qualifies.
