Specifications

Tile In Carrara Cotton SPC Tile starts at $3.99/sq ft installed in Fort Myers — a white-field marble-look floor with soft natural veining, built on TRUCOR’s rigid SPC core. It’s part of the TRUCOR® Tile collection, sized at 12″ x 24″ to read like genuine porcelain. The result is a clean, classic look without the weight, cold underfoot feel, or grout-sealing demands of real stone.

What Tile In Carrara Cotton SPC Tile is built for

Southwest Florida homes put floors through a real workout: slab-on-grade foundations that shift with moisture, humidity that spikes year-round, and the tracked-in sand that’s a fact of coastal life. Carrara Cotton’s SPC core won’t swell, warp, or buckle when humidity climbs, and the Valinge 5Gi click system floats above the slab without adhesive — which matters when concrete moisture readings are borderline.

The 20 mil wear layer is rated for commercial use, so it holds up in high-traffic beach houses and seasonal rentals alike. It installs above, on, or below grade, which makes it practical for the full footprint of a Florida home — living rooms, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and anywhere else moisture could be a concern.

Installed pricing in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida

Flooring Queen installs Carrara Cotton at $3.99 per square foot, and that price covers the full job: pulling up your current flooring, removing the debris from the property, light subfloor preparation, the floating installation itself, standard baseboards, and any transition strips between rooms or adjacent surfaces. There are no hidden labor fees for a straightforward project.

Certain conditions add cost — significant floor leveling, stair nosing, diagonal or herringbone patterns, or custom inlay borders all carry upcharges. The best way to get an accurate number is Flooring Queen’s free in-home measurement: we walk the space, note the conditions, and deliver a written quote before any work begins.

How Tile In Carrara Cotton SPC Tile compares

Porcelain tile is the most obvious comparison here — Carrara Cotton is deliberately designed to look like it. Real porcelain in a similar marble-look format runs around $8.99/sq ft installed, more than twice the price of this SPC option. Porcelain is harder and slightly more scratch-resistant at the surface, and some buyers prefer the authentic material under their feet. But it requires a mortar bed, grout sealing, and a structurally sound subfloor rated for the weight — conditions that aren’t always easy to guarantee on a Florida slab.

Carrara Cotton floats without adhesive, installs in one day rather than several, and the seams between planks don’t need sealing. The trade-off: it won’t outlast a well-set porcelain floor over decades, and it can’t be refinished if the wear layer ever reaches its limit.

Care & maintenance

Sweep or vacuum regularly using a soft-bristle attachment — avoid a beater bar, which can scuff the surface over time. Damp-mop with a pH-neutral cleaner; Bona Stone, Tile & Laminate or a similar residue-free formula works well. Never use a steam mop on SPC flooring: the heat and pressure can compromise the locking joints and void the warranty. Skip anything acidic or abrasive — no vinegar, no scrubbing powders. Because there’s no real grout in this floating system, you also won’t have the recurring cost of grout sealing that traditional tile installs require. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.

Frequently asked questions

Does the grout between these tiles need to be sealed, and how often?

No grout sealing is required for Carrara Cotton — this is a floating SPC tile with a click-lock system, so there’s no real grout to maintain. Traditional porcelain installs call for penetrating sealer every one to three years, but that cost and upkeep doesn’t apply here. The seams between tiles are mechanical, not mortared.

These tiles are 12 by 24 — how does that size affect the layout and the way the room looks?

A 12″ x 24″ format makes rooms feel longer and more open than a standard 12″ x 12″ grid. Because each piece is larger, there are fewer grout lines — or in this case, fewer seams — which reinforces the clean, stone-like look. Larger format tiles also require a flatter subfloor; our installation team checks lippage tolerance before laying the first row.

What’s a realistic timeline from start to finish — one bathroom, or an entire house?

A single room typically wraps in one day once the old flooring is out and the subfloor is confirmed flat. A whole-home project of 1,000–1,500 sq ft usually runs two to three days. The Valinge 5Gi click system installs quickly compared to a glue-down or mortar approach, so there’s no cure time waiting in between.

Can this go directly on top of my current vinyl or tile, or does the old floor have to come up first?

In some cases Carrara Cotton can float over existing hard flooring, but it depends on the height difference at thresholds, the condition of the existing surface, and local building code. Our installer will check flatness and any height issues at the in-home measure before making a recommendation — going over a wavy or damaged surface risks telegraphing problems through to the new floor.

What will it actually cost to keep this floor clean year to year — any special products or services needed?

Ongoing care costs for Carrara Cotton are minimal. A bottle of pH-neutral hard-surface cleaner — Bona and ZEP Neutral Floor Cleaner are two widely available options — is all you need for routine mopping. There’s no refinishing, no resealing, and no professional deep-clean requirement. A soft-bristle broom or vacuum with the beater bar turned off handles daily grit.

My condo HOA has rules about hard flooring — will this product cause issues with sound or board approvals?

Many Southwest Florida condo associations require an Impact Insulation Class (IIC) rating of 50 or higher and a Sound Transmission Class (STC) rating in a similar range before approving hard flooring. Carrara Cotton includes an attached IXPE pad, which helps, but most boards still want documentation. Bring the product spec sheet and your HOA’s exact requirements to the in-home visit — our team can advise on whether an additional underlayment is needed to meet the threshold.
