Both products target the same marble-look aesthetic, and at a glance they’re nearly indistinguishable. The real differences show up in installation and daily use. Porcelain is harder — genuinely scratch-proof against sharp objects — but it requires setting mortar, grout, and professional leveling that drives installed costs up. It also feels cold underfoot and can crack on a slab that shifts. No — the Ceragrout edge is part of the SPC tile itself, not actual grout, so there’s nothing to seal. Real grout is porous and typically needs a penetrating sealer applied at installation and re-sealed every one to three years; this product skips that step entirely.
A 16″ x 32″ tile is a large-format size that creates fewer grout lines (or in this case, fewer Ceragrout seams), which makes rooms read as more open and continuous. It also requires a reasonably flat slab — TRUCOR’s I4F floating system accommodates minor variation, but lippage becomes more visible at larger tile sizes if the substrate has significant dips.
Not to the same degree. The attached IXPE pad provides thermal break between the SPC core and the slab, which makes it noticeably warmer underfoot than porcelain or natural stone.
