Pinnacle – York SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a deep charcoal wood-look plank from Happy Feet’s Pinnacle collection that brings a grounded, modern tone to any room. At 7 inches wide and 60 inches long, it reads bold on the floor without overwhelming a space. Flooring Queen handles the full installation across Southwest Florida.
York’s 11.5 mm Stabilicor® rigid core was built for the conditions Southwest Florida homeowners deal with every day: concrete slab foundations, high ambient humidity, and the salt air that drifts inland from the coast. Unlike wood-based flooring, the core won’t expand, cup, or buckle when the humidity swings between a sealed AC interior and a wet Florida summer.
The 28 mil wear layer is thick enough to hold up in high-traffic living rooms, busy kitchens, and rental properties that see steady turnover. Seasonal and snowbird homes benefit too — a rigid-core plank handles months of sitting in closed, unconditioned space far better than engineered wood or laminate.

Flooring Queen installs Pinnacle – York at $3.99 per square foot, and that price covers the full scope of a standard project: delivery to your home, removal of your existing flooring, floor prep within normal tolerances, the click-lock installation, baseboards, and transition strips between rooms. Old material gets hauled off the property.
Some conditions cost more. Significant low spots or high spots in a slab require leveling compounds, and that work is priced separately. Stair nosing, intricate diagonal layouts, and custom border insets are also upcharges. Engineered hardwood gives you a real wood surface and a warmer feel underfoot, which appeals to buyers who want authenticity. But in Southwest Florida, that wood veneer top layer is still sensitive to standing water, high humidity over time, and slab moisture — three things this region dishes out regularly. York’s Stabilicor® core is dimensionally stable in those conditions, and the 28 mil wear layer resists scratches better than most hardwood finishes.
Engineered hardwood can be refinished once or twice, which York cannot. If the visual of real wood grain matters more than practical durability, engineered hardwood makes sense. If you want a floor that won’t stress you out in a rental, a coastal home, or a slab-on-grade build, York has the edge on practicality and cost.
| Pinnacle – York | Engineered Hardwood | |
|---|---|---|
| Water resistance | 100% waterproof core and plank | Veneer vulnerable to moisture/humidity |
| Scratch resistance / wear layer | 28 mil commercial-grade wear layer | Urethane finish, typically 3–6 mil |
| Comfort underfoot | Firm; benefits from added underlayment | Warmer, softer feel from wood veneer |
| Installed price | $3.99/sq ft installed | ~$8.99/sq ft installed |
| Best room | Kitchen, bath, slab-on-grade living areas | Bedrooms, above-grade main living rooms |
Sweep or dust-mop York regularly to keep grit from grinding against the wear layer — fine sand tracked in from Southwest Florida beaches is one of the fastest ways to dull any floor’s finish. For cleaning, use a pH-neutral vinyl floor cleaner such as Bona Stone, Tile & Laminate or a diluted Murphy’s Oil Soap–free formula; avoid anything acidic or solvent-based. Never use a steam mop on SPC rigid-core planks — the sustained heat and moisture can weaken adhesion at the locking joints over time. Wipe spills promptly even though the core is waterproof, because standing water at seams or baseboards can still migrate to the subfloor. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.
Pinnacle – York is genuinely waterproof at the plank level — the Stabilicor® rigid core does not absorb water, and the planks won’t swell or warp if water sits on the surface. That said, prolonged pooling at seams or around baseboards can still reach the subfloor underneath, so prompt cleanup remains a good habit.
The 28 mil wear layer on Pinnacle – York is one of the thickest available in residential SPC flooring, and it handles pet claws significantly better than standard 12 or 20 mil products. Accidents clean up easily since the surface is non-porous. Dragging heavy furniture remains the bigger risk — use felt pads under legs.
Pinnacle – York is well-suited for any above-grade or on-grade room, including kitchens, bathrooms, and living areas on a concrete slab. It’s not recommended for fully below-grade spaces with active water intrusion. As a floating click-lock floor, it also needs stable, relatively flat subfloor conditions — major dips or humps should be corrected before install.
Happy Feet typically backs the Pinnacle collection with a residential lifetime structural warranty and a wear warranty covering the finish for normal use — but exact terms should be confirmed directly with Happy Feet or your Flooring Queen sales rep at time of purchase, as warranty specifics can vary by SKU and registration requirements.
SPC (stone polymer composite) has a rigid mineral-based core, while traditional LVP uses a softer, more flexible vinyl core. York is SPC, which means it’s harder underfoot, more dimensionally stable under temperature swings, and less prone to denting. The trade-off is that rigid-core floors transmit a bit more impact sound, which underlayment can help offset.
Many Southwest Florida HOAs and condo boards require a minimum IIC sound rating — commonly IIC 50 or higher — before approving a floating floor install. Pinnacle – York is a click-lock floating plank, so it may need a qualifying underlayment to meet your building’s specific threshold. Bring your association’s requirements to your Flooring Queen consultation; we’ll confirm compatibility before ordering.
