Urban Design Click – Sydney SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a warm beige floor from Happy Feet’s Urban Design Click™ collection built for the way Southwest Florida homes actually live. The 7″ x 48″ plank format and painted bevel edge give it a clean, low-profile look that works with light coastal interiors and open floor plans alike.
Sydney’s rigid Stabilicor® Plus core doesn’t flex or buckle when humidity swings — a real advantage in Fort Myers slab homes where moisture migrates up through the concrete year-round. The 5mm profile sits flat over slabs without the height concerns that come with thicker assemblies, and the beige tone doesn’t show the fine sand and dust that Southwest Florida living deposits daily.
The 20 mil wear layer is thick enough to hold up in high-traffic households and rental properties. If you’re a snowbird running fans and air conditioning on a timer while you’re away, this floor won’t gap or warp during the thermal cycling the way thinner or wood-based products sometimes do.

Flooring Queen installs Urban Design Click – Sydney at $3.99 per square foot, and that price covers the full job: delivery to your home, removal of existing flooring, subfloor preparation for typical conditions, the installation itself, matching baseboards, and transition strips at doorways. When the crew wraps up, they take the old material with them — nothing left for you to deal with.
Upcharges apply when the subfloor needs significant leveling beyond routine prep, or when the project involves stair nosing, intricate layout patterns, or custom border work. Call Flooring Queen to schedule a free in-home measure; you’ll receive a written, room-by-room quote before any work is committed.
Engineered hardwood gives you real wood on the surface — genuine grain texture and the warmth that comes with it. If visual authenticity is the top priority, it has an edge over any vinyl product. But in Southwest Florida, that wood veneer is working against the environment: coastal humidity, salt air, and the moisture that seeps up through concrete slabs all stress the wood fibers over time. Sydney’s SPC core is dimensionally stable in ways engineered hardwood simply isn’t.
On cost, Sydney is meaningfully less expensive. Engineered hardwood in Southwest Florida typically runs around $8.99 per square foot installed, more than double Sydney’s price. If a room floods or a water heater fails, Sydney survives; the engineered wood likely doesn’t. The trade-off is texture — SPC won’t feel or look exactly like real wood, and it can’t be sanded and refinished if it gets damaged.
| Urban Design Click – Sydney | Engineered Hardwood | |

| Comfort underfoot | 5mm with cork-back; firm but cushioned | Warmer feel; softer underfoot |

| Best room | Any grade; wet areas, slabs, rentals | Above-grade, dry rooms; not basements |
Sweep or vacuum on a hard-floor setting — avoid beater-bar attachments, which can scuff the wear layer over time. Damp-mop with a pH-neutral cleaner such as Bona Hard-Surface Floor Cleaner or a manufacturer-approved vinyl formula; avoid anything acidic or solvent-based, which can dull the ZeroMark® finish. Never use a steam mop on SPC — the concentrated heat and pressure can compromise the locking joints and the cork backing. For sticky spots, a slightly damp microfiber cloth does the job without risk. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.
Urban Design Click – Sydney has a 100% waterproof rigid SPC core, meaning standing water won’t swell or buckle the plank itself. What’s not covered: if water gets beneath the floor and has nowhere to drain, it can affect the subfloor underneath. Wipe up spills promptly and make sure the perimeter is properly sealed at transitions.
A 20 mil wear layer is on the thicker end of residential SPC and handles dog nails, daily tracking, and pet accidents without cutting through to the core. Cleanup is straightforward since the surface doesn’t absorb liquid. Very large or very active dogs may still leave fine surface scratches over years, but the floor won’t be permanently damaged.
Sydney’s click-lock floating installation works on any grade — ground floor, slab, or even below-grade spaces — making it a practical choice for living rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, and bedrooms. There’s no structural reason to avoid any room in a typical home. High-heat areas like saunas or sunrooms with direct unshaded glass are the one place to think twice with any SPC product.
SPC’s dimensional stability makes it one of the better choices for seasonal homes that run on timed HVAC rather than consistent climate control. The rigid core doesn’t expand and contract the way wood-based products do through temperature and humidity swings. Just keep the home’s climate system running at a reasonable setpoint — extreme heat or cold still stresses any flooring material.
Urban Design Click – Sydney includes a 1mm cork backing bonded to the plank, so no separate underlayment purchase is required. That cork layer softens the feel underfoot compared to bare SPC and helps with minor subfloor imperfections. It also adds a small amount of sound absorption — useful on slabs where hard floors can amplify noise.
A single room typically wraps in one day with click-lock SPC, which doesn’t require adhesive or curing time. A whole-home project of 1,000–1,500 square feet usually runs two to three days depending on layout complexity, the number of transitions, and how much subfloor work is needed beforehand. Your Flooring Queen crew will outline the schedule when they review the written quote with you.
