Prime Xl 7 In Montferrat Walnut SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a warm walnut-toned floor from TRUCOR’s PRIME collection that reads like real hardwood but shrugs off everything a Florida home throws at it. The wide 7-inch plank and painted bevel edge give each board genuine visual depth. Flooring Queen installs it throughout Southwest Florida on concrete slab, above grade, and anywhere in between.
This floor was built for the conditions that shorten the life of most floors in Southwest Florida: slab-on-grade construction, persistent humidity, and the salt air that works its way into coastal homes. The rigid core keeps it stable when humidity swings between a closed-up seasonal home and a house that’s been opened back up in October.
The 20 mil wear layer and TRUWEAR finish hold up in high-traffic entries, great rooms, and rental properties where tenants aren’t always gentle. Cork underlayment is already attached, so there’s no separate pad to buy, and it adds a quiet, slightly cushioned feel underfoot — a real advantage on hard concrete.

Flooring Queen installs Prime XL 7 in Montferrat Walnut at $3.99 per square foot, and that number covers more than just labor. It includes delivery to your home, removal of the existing floor covering, standard subfloor preparation, the floating installation itself, baseboard reinstallation, and transition strips at doorways. Old flooring goes with us when we leave.
A few things are priced separately: significant subfloor leveling where the slab has dips or high spots, stair nosing and treads, and any decorative inlays or borders. Call or book online and we’ll schedule a free in-home measurement with a written quote before any work begins.
Shoppers drawn to the Montferrat Walnut color often look at engineered hardwood as well, and it’s a fair comparison — both products deliver a real-wood appearance in a wide-plank format. Engineered hardwood has genuine wood on the surface, which some buyers prefer for feel and for the option to sand and refinish. But in Southwest Florida, that surface wood is vulnerable to humidity swings, and engineered hardwood is not waterproof — a slow plumbing leak or a wet-mopped floor can cause real damage.
This SPC plank has a fully waterproof core that handles standing water without swelling, and its 20 mil wear layer outperforms most engineered hardwood aluminum-oxide finishes for scratch resistance. Engineered hardwood typically costs significantly more installed. The trade-off: you can’t refinish this plank if the surface is worn through in 20 years.
| Prime XL 7 in Montferrat Walnut | Engineered Hardwood | |
|---|---|---|
| Water resistance | 100% waterproof core | Surface-only; core swells when wet |
| Scratch resistance / wear layer | 20 mil (0.5 mm) TRUWEAR finish | Aluminum oxide; varies by brand |
| Comfort underfoot | Cork pad attached; rigid feel | Wood feel; softer on thick subfloors |
| Installed price | From $3.99/sq ft installed | From $8.99/sq ft installed |
| Best room | Any grade; kitchens, baths, living areas | Above-grade; dry living areas only |
Sweep or vacuum with a soft-bristle head regularly — grit tracked in from outside is the main cause of surface wear on any plank floor. Clean with a pH-neutral vinyl floor cleaner such as Bona Stone, Tile & Laminate or a diluted plain-water mop; avoid anything acidic or oil-based. Never use a steam mop on this floor — the heat and pressure can compromise the locking joints and the attached cork pad over time. Wipe up spills promptly even though the core is waterproof, because standing water at seams can eventually migrate under the plank. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.
The core of this plank is genuinely waterproof — standing water on the surface won’t cause swelling or buckling the way it would with hardwood or laminate. That said, water that sits at the seams for extended periods can work underneath, so cleaning up spills and slow leaks promptly is still the right habit.
The 20 mil wear layer on this plank is one of the thicker residential options available and holds up well against pet nails in normal use. Cleanup is easy since the surface is non-porous. No wear layer is fully scratch-proof against a large, active dog, but this one is well-suited to pet households.
This plank is approved for installation above, on, and below grade, so it works in virtually every room including bathrooms, kitchens, and below-grade spaces like walk-out areas. The main limitation is outdoor or semi-outdoor spaces — it’s an interior floor and shouldn’t be used in uncovered lanais or areas with direct sun exposure without climate control.
SPC rigid-core planks handle seasonal closures better than most alternatives because the stone-composite core is dimensionally stable and resists the expansion and contraction that damages wood-based floors during temperature and humidity cycling. Keeping the AC set to a moderate hold temperature rather than turning it fully off is still advisable for the home overall.
In Southwest Florida’s market, updated flooring consistently matters to buyers, and wide-plank wood-look vinyl is one of the most expected finishes in move-in-ready listings. It won’t add dollar-for-dollar value the way a kitchen remodel might, but worn tile or carpet is a reliable negotiating point against you — replacing it removes that objection.
TRUCOR provides a limited lifetime warranty for residential use and a 15-year warranty for commercial installations. Manufacturer warranties on SPC flooring typically cover manufacturing defects, finish wear, and waterproof performance under normal use conditions. They do not cover damage from improper installation, extreme point loads, or failure to follow the care guidelines, so keeping your installation invoice is worthwhile.
