Specifications

Prescott Grayton Luxury Vinyl Planks SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a cool gray wood-look floor built for real life in Southwest Florida. From MSI Surfaces’ Prescott collection, Grayton pairs a soft, weathered gray tone with the dimensional stability of a rigid stone-plastic composite core. It’s a practical, good-looking choice for homeowners who want the hardwood aesthetic without the hardwood vulnerabilities.

What Prescott Grayton Luxury Vinyl Planks SPC Rigid-Core Plank is built for

Southwest Florida puts floors through a specific kind of stress: persistent humidity, concrete slab subfloors that shift with the seasons, salt air near the coast, and sandy foot traffic tracked in from the beach. Grayton’s SPC rigid core doesn’t expand and contract the way wood-based products do, so it stays flat and tight even when the air is thick with moisture.

The 20-mil wear layer is thick enough to take daily wear in busy households — kids, dogs, bare feet, furniture legs, the whole picture. It also makes Grayton a sensible choice for rental properties or snowbird homes that may sit unoccupied for stretches of the year.

Installed pricing in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida

Flooring Queen installs Prescott Grayton at $3.99 per square foot, and that price covers more than just laying planks. It includes delivery to your home, removal of your existing floor covering, standard subfloor preparation, installation of the new planks, baseboards, and transition strips — plus cleanup and material haul-off when the crew wraps up.

Certain situations cost more: significant subfloor leveling (more than minor spot work), stair nosing, diagonal or herringbone layout patterns, or custom inlays. We offer a free in-home measurement and a written quote so you know exactly what you’re paying before a single plank is ordered.

How Prescott Grayton Luxury Vinyl Planks SPC Rigid-Core Plank compares

Grayton and engineered hardwood can look similar on a showroom floor — both offer a wood-grain appearance in plank format. But the materials behave very differently in a Southwest Florida home. Grayton’s SPC core is fully waterproof; engineered hardwood has a real wood veneer and a plywood base that can swell, cup, or grow mold if moisture gets underneath it on a slab. That’s a real risk in our climate.

Engineered hardwood has one clear advantage: the top veneer can sometimes be lightly sanded and refinished, extending its life in that way. Grayton cannot be refinished — when the wear layer is gone, the floor gets replaced. For most SWFL homeowners, the waterproof core and lower installed price tip the scales toward Grayton.

Care & maintenance

Keep Grayton clean with a pH-neutral vinyl floor cleaner — brands like Bona Stone, Tile & Laminate or Black Diamond’s stone-and-tile formula work well and won’t break down the wear layer. Sweep or dust-mop regularly to keep sand and grit from acting as an abrasive underfoot. Skip steam mops entirely; the heat and moisture can work into seams over time and affect the adhesion of the locking system. Never use wax, polish, or solvent-based cleaners — the wear layer doesn’t need them and those products can leave a hazy buildup that dulls the finish. Frequently asked questions

Will standing water or a plumbing leak actually damage this floor?

The Grayton plank itself is waterproof — the SPC core won’t swell or buckle if water sits on it. What’s not covered is water that works its way beneath the floor and affects the subfloor or walls underneath. Clean up spills and address any leaks promptly; the plank will survive, but the structure below it won’t.

My dogs run through the house constantly — will this hold up?

Grayton’s 20-mil wear layer is one of the thicker options in the residential vinyl category and handles everyday pet traffic well. It resists claw scratches better than thinner wear layers, and any messes — mud, accidents, water bowl spills — wipe clean without soaking in. Trim claws regularly to extend the surface’s life.

Do you install this in Cape Coral and Bonita Springs, or just Fort Myers?

Flooring Queen installs Prescott Grayton throughout the region, including Cape Coral, Bonita Springs, Estero, Naples, and the surrounding communities. If you’re not sure your address falls within our service area, just give us a call — coverage extends across most of Southwest Florida.

Does this product come with an attached underlayment already on the back?

The product facts we have for Grayton do not specify an attached pad. We’ll confirm this detail during your in-home measurement, and if a separate underlayment is recommended for your subfloor, we’ll note that in your written quote before any work begins.

We’re in Fort Myers only part of the year — how does this floor handle sitting empty all summer?

SPC rigid-core floors are well-suited for seasonal homes because the stone-plastic composite core is dimensionally stable across a wider temperature and humidity range than wood-based flooring. That said, it’s still wise to keep the AC running at a reasonable setpoint while you’re away — extreme heat buildup in a closed Florida home isn’t ideal for any flooring product.

How many days should we plan for the install — one room or the whole house?

A single room typically takes one day; a whole-home install covering 1,000 to 1,500 square feet usually runs two to three days depending on layout complexity and subfloor conditions. SPC click-lock planks go in efficiently, but additional time may be needed if the existing floor requires more prep work.
