Specifications

Nordic Sand SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a warm beige floor from CPF Floors’ Alpha22 collection built for homes that see real use. The natural tone reads clean and calm without leaning too pale or too golden. It’s the kind of neutral that works from the entryway through the main living areas without demanding a renovation around it.

What Nordic Sand SPC Rigid-Core Plank is built for

The 8mm total thickness and rigid stone-plastic composite core make Nordic Sand a practical choice for Southwest Florida’s concrete slab construction. SPC doesn’t expand and contract the way wood-based flooring does in high-humidity conditions, so the coast’s salt air and seasonal moisture swings aren’t a concern.

The attached 2mm HD EVA pad softens the slab’s hardness underfoot — useful in homes where you’re on your feet all day. The 22mil wear layer holds up in high-traffic hallways, rental properties, and seasonal homes that sit empty and then see heavy move-in use.

Installed pricing in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida

Flooring Queen installs Nordic Sand at $3.99 per square foot, and that price covers the full job: delivery, removal of the existing floor covering, standard subfloor cleaning and prep, installation, new baseboards, transition strips, and debris removal once the crew wraps up.

Extra costs come into play when a subfloor needs significant leveling work beyond routine prep, or if you’re adding stair nosing, a custom border layout, or other pattern work. Call Flooring Queen to schedule a free in-home measure — you’ll leave with a written quote that breaks out exactly what your project costs before any work starts.

How Nordic Sand SPC Rigid-Core Plank compares

Waterproof laminate and SPC planks look similar on the surface — both come in wood-look formats, both float over the subfloor — but the core material is what separates them in real-world use. Nordic Sand’s stone-plastic composite core is fully inert to moisture. True waterproof laminate resists surface water reasonably well, but most laminate cores still contain wood fiber that can swell if water gets underneath through seams or at the edges over time.

Where laminate has an edge is acoustic feel underfoot — the wood-fiber core has a slightly softer thud. SPC is denser and can feel harder underfoot, which is why the attached EVA pad on Nordic Sand matters. Laminate also tends to cost a bit more installed. For wet rooms, coastal homes, or slabs with any history of moisture, SPC is the safer call.

Care & maintenance

Sweep or vacuum Nordic Sand regularly to keep grit from working into the wear layer — avoid a beater-bar attachment, which can scuff the surface over time. Damp-mop with a pH-neutral cleaner such as Bona Hard-Surface Floor Cleaner or a diluted solution of Method Floor Cleaner; never use a steam mop, as sustained heat and pressure can compromise the locking joints and attached pad. Skip wax, polish, and anything oil-based — the 22mil wear layer doesn’t absorb them and they’ll just leave a residue. For stubborn spots, a soft cloth with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol works without damaging the finish. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.

Frequently asked questions

Will standing water actually damage this floor, or is it just water-resistant?

Nordic Sand has a fully waterproof stone-plastic composite core, meaning the plank itself won’t swell or warp from water exposure. That said, standing water left at seams or baseboards for extended periods can still work its way to the subfloor beneath, so promptly wiping up spills and sealing perimeter trim properly matters.

My dogs are rough on floors — will this hold up to claws and accidents?

The 22mil wear layer on Nordic Sand is thick enough to resist everyday claw traffic from most dog breeds without showing visible scratches under normal conditions. The waterproof core handles accidents cleanly — no soaking into the plank. For very large or high-energy dogs, area rugs in play zones will extend the floor’s life.

What’s the practical difference between SPC and the regular LVP I’ve seen at the big-box stores?

SPC — stone-plastic composite — uses a denser, more rigid core than traditional LVP, which typically uses a softer PVC foam core. Nordic Sand is SPC, which means it resists denting under heavy furniture, stays flat over uneven subfloors more reliably, and handles temperature swings better. The trade-off is that SPC can feel slightly harder underfoot than softer LVP.

Those planks seem narrow — how will 7-inch-wide boards look in a larger room?

At 7 inches wide and 48 inches long, Nordic Sand’s planks are a mid-width format that works well in most room sizes. Wider planks tend to make larger rooms feel more open, and this size hits a sweet spot — not so narrow that it reads like strip flooring, but manageable in tighter spaces like hallways or bathrooms too.

Does this come with padding already attached, or do I need to buy underlayment separately?

Nordic Sand comes with a 2mm HD EVA pad already bonded to the back of each plank, so no separate underlayment purchase is needed. That pre-attached pad reduces the hollow sound you sometimes hear when walking on rigid-core floors over concrete, and it adds a small amount of cushion that makes a noticeable difference over a full day on your feet.

How long does a typical Nordic Sand install take from start to finish?

A single room generally runs one day; a full home install of 1,000–1,500 square feet typically takes two to three days depending on layout complexity and how much floor prep the subfloor needs. Nordic Sand’s angle-angle locking system is straightforward, which keeps the install moving without the delays that more complicated click profiles can cause.
