Clear Pecan SPC Rigid-Core Plank starts at $3.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a warm caramel wood-look floor from CPF Floors’ Spirit XL collection. The wide 9″×60″ plank format and dark naturals tone give it the feel of aged pecan hardwood without any of the maintenance baggage. Flooring Queen supplies and installs it throughout Southwest Florida.
An 8mm rigid core with a 2mm HD EVA pad underneath means this floor sits solidly on concrete slabs — the foundation type you’ll find in most Fort Myers and Cape Coral homes. Slab flex, humidity swings, and the ambient moisture that comes with coastal living don’t faze a waterproof rigid-core construction the way they’d stress natural wood.
The 22 mil wear layer makes it a reasonable pick for households with active use: rental properties, vacation homes that see short-term renters, or main living areas with heavy foot traffic. Traffic Class 23-33 covers both heavy residential and general commercial, so it’s built beyond what most homes actually throw at it.

Flooring Queen installs Clear Pecan SPC at $3.99 per square foot, and that number covers more than just the labor. Included in the quoted price: delivery to your home, removal of your old flooring, standard subfloor preparation, the installation itself, baseboard reinstallation, transition strips between rooms, and cleanup when the crew is done.
A few things fall outside the flat rate. Significant low spots in a slab that require leveling compound, stair nosing, or custom inlay work are quoted separately once we see the floor. Call or book online for a free in-home measurement — we leave you a written quote with no expiration pressure.
Engineered hardwood gives you real wood on the surface — genuine grain, the option to refinish once or twice, and a look that’s hard to replicate. Clear Pecan SPC gives you a caramel wood look without the vulnerability to moisture. In Southwest Florida’s humidity, engineered hardwood can still cup or gap at the seams, especially over concrete slabs without a perfect moisture barrier. SPC won’t.
Where engineered hardwood wins: authenticity, resale perception, and the ability to sand down light scratches. Where Clear Pecan wins: fully waterproof core, lower installed cost, and zero swelling risk in a seasonal home that sits closed from June through October. For bathrooms, laundry rooms, or any space with water exposure, SPC is the straightforward choice.
| Clear Pecan | Engineered Hardwood | |
|---|---|---|
| Water resistance | Fully waterproof rigid core | Moisture-sensitive; can cup on slabs |
| Scratch resistance / wear layer | 22 mil commercial-grade wear layer | Varies; surface can be sanded lightly |
| Comfort underfoot | 8mm total with attached EVA pad | Typically softer; depends on subfloor |
| Installed price | $3.99/sq ft installed | ~$8.99/sq ft installed |
| Best room | Any room, including wet areas | Dry living areas; avoid baths/laundry |
Sweep or dry-mop regularly to keep sand and grit — both abundant in Southwest Florida homes — from working against the wear layer. Damp-mop with a pH-neutral cleaner like Bona Stone, Tile & Laminate or a diluted dish soap solution; avoid acidic or oil-based products that can dull the finish over time. Never use a steam mop on SPC rigid-core flooring — the heat and moisture forced into the seams can compromise the locking joints. A microfiber flat mop is the right tool for routine cleaning. For technical guidance, see the World Floor Covering Association vinyl flooring guide.
Clear Pecan SPC has a fully waterproof rigid core — standing water on the surface won’t damage the plank itself. That said, water that works its way under the floor through gaps at the perimeter can affect the subfloor below, so properly sealed edges and transitions matter as much as the plank construction.
The 22 mil wear layer puts Clear Pecan well above what most pet households need. It resists surface scratches from dog nails better than standard LVP at lower mil ratings. Cleanup is simple — the waterproof surface handles accidents without staining or swelling, and a damp cloth is usually all it takes.
Clear Pecan ships with a 2mm HD EVA pad already bonded to the back of each plank, so no separate underlayment purchase is needed. That factory-attached pad softens footfall sound and adds a slight cushion underfoot — useful on concrete slab installs where hard surfaces tend to amplify noise.
Ongoing maintenance costs for SPC are minimal — a pH-neutral floor cleaner and a microfiber mop are the only regular expenses. There’s no refinishing, no resealing, and no special equipment required. Unlike hardwood or tile grout, the surface doesn’t need periodic professional treatment to stay in good condition.
SPC rigid-core is one of the better choices for seasonal homes precisely because it tolerates temperature and humidity cycling without expanding, cupping, or gapping. Just keep the home at a moderate thermostat setting rather than fully off — extreme heat buildup in a closed SWFL home in August can stress any flooring material over time.
Many Southwest Florida condo associations require an IIC (Impact Insulation Class) rating, typically 50 or above, before approving a hard-surface floor installation. The attached 2mm EVA pad contributes to impact sound reduction, but you should request the manufacturer’s official IIC documentation from Flooring Queen to submit to your HOA board — don’t rely on general claims.
We chose every vinyl product in this catalog because it stands up to the realities of Florida living: humidity, sandy substrate, busy households. Flooring Queen installs what we sell, licensed and insured. Free in-home measure: (239) 763-0770.
