Specifications

Clear Oak Engineered Hardwood starts at $8.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a smooth, caramel-toned oak floor from Hallmark Floors’ Serenity Collection. The warm caramel color reads as classic without leaning traditional, and the clean, unbothered grain of the CleanPlus grade keeps the look consistent from board to board. It’s a well-built floor that doesn’t ask for attention — it just works.

What Clear Oak Engineered Hardwood is built for

Clear Oak is a practical fit for Fort Myers and the broader Southwest Florida coast. The engineered construction — a 4mm sawn-cut oak wear layer over a stable multi-ply core — handles the humidity swings and concrete slab foundations that are standard here. It won’t gap or cup the way solid hardwood can when coastal air pushes moisture levels up.

This floor suits living rooms, dining areas, primary bedrooms, and open-plan spaces. The smooth TrueMark Glaze Tek finish and MicroBevel edge hold up in active households, and the lifetime residential structural warranty backs it for the long run — useful for rental owners and snowbirds alike.

Installed pricing in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida

At $8.99 per square foot installed, the price covers everything needed to get the floor down: delivery to your home, removal and disposal of your existing flooring, standard subfloor preparation, the installation itself, baseboards, and transition strips between rooms or adjoining surfaces.

A few things do carry an upcharge — significant subfloor leveling beyond routine prep, stair nosing on multi-level homes, and decorative borders or feature strips. Nothing gets priced in the dark. Flooring Queen offers a free in-home measurement visit where we assess the space, flag any subfloor issues, and hand you a written quote before any work begins.

How Clear Oak Engineered Hardwood compares

The comparison shoppers most often face with Clear Oak is engineered versus solid hardwood. Both are real oak. The difference is structure: solid hardwood is milled from a single piece of wood and expands and contracts freely with moisture changes. In Southwest Florida — where high humidity, concrete slabs, and salt air are facts of life — that movement creates real risk. Gaps, cupping, and finish stress are common outcomes with solid hardwood installed on slab.

Clear Oak’s engineered construction is dimensionally more stable because the layers are cross-stacked, resisting that seasonal movement. Solid hardwood wins on total refinish potential over a century. But for a Southwest Florida home on a slab, engineered is the more sensible choice — and the 4mm wear layer still allows for light sanding and refinishing when the time comes.

Care & maintenance

Sweep or vacuum with a soft-bristle attachment regularly — grit underfoot is the primary source of surface wear on smooth hardwood finishes. For cleaning, stick to one of the three approved options listed by Hallmark: WOCA Hardwood Floor Cleaner, Bona Pro Series Hardwood Floor Cleaner, or LOBA Universal Floor Cleaner. Avoid steam mops entirely — sustained heat and moisture force moisture into seams and can compromise the finish over time. Never use vinegar, ammonia-based products, or anything acidic, as these strip the TrueMark Glaze Tek finish and void the warranty. Wipe up spills quickly rather than letting liquid sit. Frequently asked questions

How long does engineered hardwood need to sit in my house before it can be installed?

In Southwest Florida, plan for at least 72 hours of acclimation — some installers prefer up to five days if the home has been closed up or the HVAC hasn’t been running consistently. Keep the boxes in the room where the floor will go, stacked flat, with the climate system running at normal living conditions.

This floor is real oak — can it be sanded and refinished down the road?

Yes, Clear Oak can be refinished. The 4mm sawn-cut wear layer is thick enough to support light sanding and refinishing, typically one to two times depending on how aggressively it’s done. That’s a meaningful advantage over engineered products with thinner veneers, which may only tolerate a screen-and-recoat rather than a full sand.

Why does Flooring Queen recommend engineered hardwood over solid wood for Southwest Florida homes?

Engineered construction is the right call for Southwest Florida because the vast majority of homes here sit on concrete slabs, and solid hardwood simply moves too much in response to our humidity levels. Clear Oak’s cross-layered core keeps the planks dimensionally stable through the wet season, hurricane prep season, and the dry winter months that follow.

Can this floor go down over my existing tile without ripping everything out first?

In many cases, yes — engineered hardwood can be installed over existing tile or vinyl if the surface is flat, securely bonded, and within the acceptable height tolerance. Hallmark’s installation guidelines govern the specifics, and our installer will evaluate the existing floor during the measurement visit to confirm whether it stays or needs to come up.

My house sits empty from May through October — will Clear Oak handle that kind of seasonal vacancy?

Engineered hardwood holds up reasonably well in seasonal homes, but the key is keeping the HVAC or a dehumidifier running while you’re away. Prolonged uncontrolled humidity — common in a closed-up Southwest Florida home in summer — can still stress any wood product. Set the thermostat no higher than 82°F and maintain humidity between 35% and 55% for best results.

Where in the house does Clear Oak work well, and where should I think twice?

Clear Oak is a strong choice for living rooms, dining rooms, hallways, and bedrooms — the core rooms where engineered hardwood performs best. Think twice before installing it in full bathrooms or laundry rooms, where standing water and persistent moisture are likely. Kitchens are a judgment call; a well-maintained kitchen is generally fine, but proximity to sinks and dishwashers warrants caution.
