About Shaw

Shaw Industries Group is a manufacturer at a scale that changes what you get as a customer. Consistency between production runs, warranty backing that will still exist in ten years, and enough volume in the supply chain that a discontinued color is a rarer problem than it is with smaller brands. When a homeowner tells us they want a floor they will not have to think about again, Shaw is a reasonable answer.

Shaw produces across several categories, including luxury vinyl, hardwood, laminate, and tile and stone. Their luxury vinyl is built waterproof, which is the part most relevant here. Shaw also owns COREtec, so the two lines come from the same company and share a lot of engineering thinking.

One thing worth saying plainly: Shaw is also a large carpet manufacturer, and Flooring Queen does not sell or install carpet. We are a hard-surface store. We will happily pull up your old carpet, and free carpet removal comes with the job, but the floor going back down will be vinyl, laminate, porcelain or hardwood.

Installing Shaw in Southwest Florida

The right Shaw product for a Southwest Florida home depends almost entirely on which rooms you are doing. Anything that can meet standing water, so kitchens, baths, laundry rooms and the transition off a lanai, points to waterproof luxury vinyl or to porcelain tile. Laminate is a good value in bedrooms, living rooms and hallways, but it is water-resistant rather than sealed at the seams, so we keep it out of full wet areas.

For engineered hardwood, the same slab rules apply that govern every wood product here. We check slab moisture before the material is ordered, not after it arrives, because a wood floor installed over a slab that is still giving off moisture will telegraph it eventually. Getting that test done early is the difference between a floor that lasts and a warranty conversation.
