COREtec
COREtec is the rigid-core luxury vinyl name most homeowners already know, and Flooring Queen carries it. COREtec is made by Shaw Industries Group, a Berkshire Hathaway company, and every plank is built waterproof through its full thickness. We are still building out the online catalog for it, so the fastest way to see COREtec is to call (239) 763-0770 and we will bring samples to your Fort Myers or Southwest Florida home.
About COREtec
COREtec is the line that made rigid-core flooring a category. Before it existed, a homeowner who wanted the look of wood in a kitchen or bathroom was choosing between laminate that swelled at the seams and sheet vinyl that looked like sheet vinyl. A rigid core changed that: the plank stays dimensionally stable, it does not swell when it meets water, and it can carry a convincing wood or stone visual on top.
That construction is the whole argument for COREtec in a Florida home. The core does not absorb water, so a dishwasher leak or a wet dog coming in off the lanai is a cleanup rather than a replacement. Most COREtec planks also ship with underlayment already attached, which softens the feel underfoot on a concrete slab and takes some noise out of the room. The Soft Step line leans furthest into that comfort side.
COREtec sits at the upper end of the rigid-core market. You are paying for the brand, the visual quality, and the warranty backing of a manufacturer the size of Shaw. If your priority is the lowest cost per square foot, we will point you at other lines we stock. If you want a name your neighbors and your realtor recognize, this is it.
COREtec lines we can order for you
We do not hold every COREtec line in the showroom, but we can order across the range. These are the families to know:
- COREtec Originalsthe core range, in Classics, Enhanced and Premium
- COREtec Originals Soft Stepthe comfort-focused build, softer underfoot
- COREtec Prothe harder-wearing tier, also in Classics, Enhanced and Premium
- COREtec Tilestone and tile visuals in a plank that installs like vinyl
Tell us the room, the traffic, and the look you are after, and we will narrow that to two or three samples rather than handing you a catalog.
Installing COREtec in Southwest Florida
Southwest Florida builds on slab. That means your floor goes down over concrete with no crawl space underneath, and concrete holds and releases moisture with the seasons. It is the single biggest reason we steer people toward rigid core here. A COREtec plank does not care what the slab is doing the way a wood-based product does.
The details that actually decide whether an install lasts are the unglamorous ones. The slab has to be flat, because a rigid plank bridges a low spot instead of following it, and that shows up later as a hollow-sounding board. Expansion gaps at every wall and threshold matter more here than in a cooler climate, because a room behind west-facing glass swings a long way in temperature across a day. We measure for both before anything is ordered.
We install COREtec throughout Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Naples, Estero, Bonita Springs and Lehigh Acres, with our own team rather than whoever is free that week.
