Why luxury vinyl

Why choose luxury
vinyl plank?

Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) and SPC rigid-core flooring are engineered for real life in Southwest Florida. 100% waterproof, multi-layer construction, and authentic wood looks — built to handle our humidity, spills, and busy days.

It’s a multi-layer build: a rigid SPC core of limestone and PVC resists dents, a high-resolution photographic layer creates the wood, stone, or tile look, and a wear layer — measured in mils — takes the daily abuse (12 mil and up handles heavy traffic and pet claws). The floating click-lock planks install right over concrete and can be swapped one at a time if one ever gets damaged.

Care & maintenance

How to care for your luxury vinyl floors

Luxury vinyl is one of the easiest floors to live with — a simple routine keeps it looking new for 20 years and beyond.

  • Sweep or dry dust-mop often — sandy grit from the beach is what wears any floor
  • Damp-mop with a pH-neutral cleaner — never wax, polish, or steam-clean
  • Felt pads under furniture legs and a mat at entryways prevent point-load dents

Installation

What’s included in installation

Our $3.99/sq ft installed price covers the full job on projects of 400 sq ft or more — a free in-home measure, a written quote before any work begins, materials and delivery, and everything below.

Professional installation

Certified technicians handle standard floor prep, click-lock plank installation, and resetting your baseboards and transition strips room to room.

We move your furniture

Furniture moving plus removal and haul-away of your old carpet, vinyl sheet, or tile are included — no heavy lifting and no separate dumpster to book.

Fast, low-disruption

Most whole-home installs finish in one to two days, and click-lock needs no curing time — move furniture back and walk on your floors the same day.

A few things are quoted separately: concrete slabs out of level by more than 3/16 inch over 10 ft need grinding or self-leveling; stairs, herringbone and custom borders, and hard-to-access upper floors carry added labor; and projects under 400 sq ft are priced per project. Call (239) 763-0770 for a firm number before you commit.

Local expertise

Built for Southwest Florida

We’ve installed flooring here for 20+ years. Here’s exactly how luxury vinyl handles our climate — humidity, salt, heat, and sand — and the two things worth knowing.

Humidity & slab floors

Humidity sits at 80%+ from June through October, and SWFL’s slab-on-grade homes keep floors against damp concrete. LVP’s waterproof core shrugs off both — and needs no vapor barrier over concrete in typical installs.

Coastal salt air

Salt air rots organic materials and corrodes fasteners. Luxury vinyl has neither — no organic layers to rot, no fasteners exposed to air — so it holds up beautifully near the coast.

Summer heat — snowbird tip

Closing up a house with the AC off can push floor temps past 90°F, near SPC’s limit. If you head north for the season, hold the thermostat at 85°F or below rather than switching it off.

Beach sand & grit

Sandy grit acts like sandpaper on the wear layer over time. A mat at each entry and a regular dry sweep in high-traffic zones keep the finish looking new for decades.

Reviewed by Jack Maya, Lead Installer at Flooring Queen — 20+ years installing flooring in Southwest Florida.Updated June 2026

Is luxury vinyl really 100% waterproof?
SPC luxury vinyl plank is fully waterproof through its entire thickness — not just at the surface. Water sitting on or under the floor won’t cause the planks to swell, buckle, or delaminate. That said, standing water should still be mopped up promptly to protect the subfloor beneath the planks, which may not share that waterproof property.
How long does installation take?
Most whole-home LVP installs in the 1,000–1,500 sq ft range are completed in one to two days. Larger homes or jobs that need significant subfloor prep may run three days. Furniture move-in and light foot traffic are typically fine the same day the install finishes, since click-lock LVP needs no curing time.
How long will it last?
A quality SPC floor with a 12-mil or thicker wear layer typically lasts 20–25 years in a home with normal care. The factors that shorten lifespan are thin wear layers, abrasive grit ground into the surface over time, and concentrated point loads from furniture legs without floor protectors. Wear-layer thickness is the single most important spec to check.
Can it go in bathrooms and laundry rooms?
Yes — bathrooms and laundry rooms are actually where LVP outperforms every other plank flooring option. Its waterproof core handles humidity, splash, and the occasional overflow without damage. Just leave the manufacturer-specified expansion gap around the perimeter, even in wet areas, so the floor can move slightly with temperature changes.
Will it meet my condo or HOA sound rules?
LVP alone typically doesn’t meet a 50 IIC requirement without an underlayment. Many SPC products include an attached pad that improves impact-sound transmission, but whether it’s sufficient depends on the product and your HOA’s rules. Bring your HOA’s flooring requirements to our showroom and we’ll match you to products with the right documentation.
Can a damaged plank be replaced?
Individual planks in a click-lock floating floor can usually be replaced without pulling up the whole floor. Access from the nearest wall or doorway is required, and the replacement plank should be from the same product line and dye lot for the best color match. Keeping a box of leftover planks from your original install is the simplest way to ensure a future repair looks right.
