Specifications

Chamomile Hickory Engineered Hardwood starts at $8.99 per square foot installed in Fort Myers — a caramel-toned hickory floor from Hallmark Floors’ Hardwood Collection that leans into reclaimed, weathered character. The sawn texture and wire-brushed surface give it an aged, rustic look without feeling overdone. It’s a brown-warm floor that reads as genuinely lived-in from the moment it’s down.

What Chamomile Hickory Engineered Hardwood is built for

Hickory is one of the harder domestic wood species, and the sawn-cut construction here — 5/8″ total thickness with a 4mm wear layer — is built to handle the expansion and contraction that Southwest Florida’s humidity swings produce all year. The engineered core stays more dimensionally stable over a concrete slab than solid hardwood would, which matters in Fort Myers-area homes where slab-on-grade is the norm.

The Nu Oil® finish means the wood is protected at the fiber level, not just on the surface, which holds up well in high-traffic rooms like living areas, dining rooms, and wide hallways. Seasonal homes benefit too — the engineered construction tolerates the humidity cycling that happens when the AC gets dialed back between visits.

Installed pricing in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida

Flooring Queen installs Chamomile Hickory at $8.99 per square foot, and that price covers the full scope of a standard project: delivery to your home, removal of your existing floor covering, routine subfloor prep, full installation, new baseboards, and transition strips where rooms meet. Old material is loaded out and taken off-site.

Some situations add cost. Heavy subfloor leveling — common in older Fort Myers homes — is quoted separately, as are stair nosing and any custom layout work like diagonal or herringbone patterns. How Chamomile Hickory Engineered Hardwood compares

The most direct cross-shop for Chamomile Hickory is solid hardwood in a similar hickory or oak species. Solid hardwood can be sanded and refinished more times over its life, which some buyers see as a long-term investment. But in Southwest Florida, solid hardwood carries real risk: it moves with humidity, and slab foundations don’t give it the breathing room it needs. Gapping, cupping, and buckling are genuinely common outcomes here.

Chamomile Hickory’s engineered construction handles the same conditions with far less drama. The 4mm wear layer still allows refinishing — typically one or two passes — so you’re not giving up all the upside. For a Fort Myers home on a slab, engineered is usually the more practical call.

Chamomile Hickory Solid Hardwood
Water resistance Moderate — engineered core handles humidity better Low — solid wood prone to cupping on slabs
Scratch resistance / wear layer 4mm sawn-cut wear layer, Nu Oil® finish Thicker sawn layer; finish varies by brand

Installed price $8.99 per sq ft installed Typically $10–$14+ per sq ft installed
Best room Living areas, bedrooms, main floor on slab Above-grade rooms with controlled humidity

Care & maintenance

Chamomile Hickory uses Hallmark’s Nu Oil® finish, which penetrates the wood rather than sitting on top — so you should not use polyurethane-style floor cleaners or anything film-forming. Stick to the recommended cleaners: WOCA Natural Soap Spray, Bona® Pro Series Natural Oil Floor Cleaner, or LOBA® Universal Floor Cleaner. Avoid steam mops entirely; the heat and moisture will break down the oil finish over time. Wipe up spills promptly, and plan to re-oil high-traffic areas every year or two as the finish shows wear — this is a normal part of owning an oil-finished floor, not a defect. Frequently asked questions

How long does this floor need to sit and acclimate before your crew can install it in our humidity down here?

In Southwest Florida, Hallmark recommends acclimating engineered hardwood for at least 72 hours inside the home with the HVAC running at normal living conditions. Fort Myers humidity levels are high enough that skipping this step can cause the boards to shift after install, so your installer will confirm conditions before starting.

With only a 4mm wear layer, is there actually room to sand and refinish this floor down the road?

Yes — the 4mm wear layer on Chamomile Hickory is thick enough to support refinishing, typically one to two light passes over the floor’s life. That’s less than solid hardwood allows, but it’s a meaningful advantage over thinner engineered options and enough to freshen the floor as it ages.

Does engineered hickory actually help when you sell, or is it kind of neutral for buyers in this market?

Engineered hardwood generally supports resale value in Southwest Florida — buyers recognize real wood and respond to it better than vinyl or laminate. Hickory’s durable reputation doesn’t hurt. That said, condition and color trend matter more than the product category itself; a worn floor in an outdated tone won’t carry the room.

What does the Hallmark warranty actually cover on this floor?

Chamomile Hickory carries a limited lifetime structural and residential finish warranty from Hallmark Floors, plus a 3-year commercial finish warranty and 10-year commercial structural warranty. Structural coverage protects against manufacturing defects; finish coverage addresses wear under normal use. Keep your purchase documentation and follow the recommended cleaning products to keep the warranty intact.

We’re snowbirds and the house sits empty from April through October — will this floor hold up to that kind of cycle?

Engineered hardwood handles seasonal vacancy better than solid wood because the multi-ply core resists the expansion and contraction that comes with humidity cycling. For a home left empty in Southwest Florida summers, keep the AC set no higher than 80°F and maintain some humidity control — letting the house go fully unconditioned for months puts any wood floor at risk.

Our condo building has a flooring policy — does this product meet the typical underlayment and sound requirements for HOA installs in SWFL?

Many Southwest Florida HOAs and condo associations require a minimum IIC sound rating and a specific underlayment thickness before approving a hard-surface floor install. Chamomile Hickory can be installed with a compliant underlayment, but you’ll need to get the exact specs from your HOA board before ordering. Flooring Queen can document the product and installation method for your approval submission.
